IMO Zambeef will not recover any time soon. (ex) Pres Sata as died so a power struggle is taking place and we know Markets don't like uncertanty. Add to that Ebola and falling African stocks across the board. There will be bargins to be had at some point in the future but not any time soon !!. Regards

True. For me its all political and started right from day one of President Sata taking office. He is a best friend of Pres Mugabe of Zimbawe and we all know what happened there to the white farmers (ZAM started by White Irish people). Sata is said to be sick so maybe an early general election and a change of government who will be more pro ZAM !. I'm not presently holding but i will buy back in. I hope all is good with you Daniel.

Taken from a Zambeef Email; Zambia can feed the region, says SADC delegation 5 September, 2014 9:09 AM Zambeef hosts visiting Parliamentarians LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – Zambia has the capacity to feed the entire Southern African region – that’s according to a high level delegation of Parliamentarians who visited the operations of Zambeef Products in Chisamba yesterday (September 4). “The African Union is trying to remove the economic boundaries that exist so Zambia will be capable of feeding all of us. South Africa has been feeding us, but Zambia can also feed the region,” said Hon. Thulisile Dladla MP, chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of the Swaziland Parliament. Ms Dladla led a group of 35 SADC Parliamentarians - MPs and clerks from the SADC Public Accounts Committee – who toured Zambeef’s operations at Huntley Farm, inspecting the company’s feedlot, flour mill, cropping operations and dairy farm. The party was particularly impressed with Zambeef’s value addition at every step of the value chain, and the contribution made by the company to empowering small-scale entrepreneurs. The group heard that Zambia is endowed with a large land resource base of 75 million hectares. Potential arable land covers less than half of the country’s total land, but only 15 percent of this is reportedly under cultivation. "There are abundant water resources for irrigation and the country has 40 percent of the water resources in Central and Southern Africa," explained Zambeef Head of Public Relations and Corporate Affairs Felix Lupindula, who led the tour with Huntley Farm General Manager Francis Mondomona. Zambeef Products is aiming to be the leading food provider in the region and continues to expand its production capacity to meet growing demand. “I love this project very much because they have got many small-scale farmers who benefit. Zambeef has untold potential to feed the region, and what we have seen here is one thing that we will try and emulate in our respective countries,” added Ms Dladla.

quitely it moves uphttp://ukzambians.co.uk/home/2014/08/14/zambeef-opens-butchery-number-122/Lusaka Mayor Mulenga Sata inspects the butchery counter, run by Zambeef, at the new Shoprite store in Twin Palm, Lusaka, assisted by Butchery Manager David Malunga and Butchery Assistant Elly Shindelele.Clean, modern facilities attract discerning customersZambeef Products plc has opened its 122nd butchery in Zambia with the inauguration of its latest outlet at the new Shoprite store in Twin Palm, Lusaka.Lusaka City Mayor Mulenga Sata officially opened the new supermarket in the up-and-coming suburb, praising the US$10 million investment in the mall, which has created 200 construction jobs in the past two years. The new Shoprite store is the 22nd in the country for the company, and the sixth within Lusaka. Some 65 percent of the items on sale are sourced from local suppliers, noted Mr Sata.Zambeef is among those suppliers, operating the butcheries in all of Shoprite's outlets countrywide, as well as its own retail and wholesale outlets. In addition to 122 retail outlets, Zambeef has three wholesale depots across the country.Commenting on the growth of the company's retail division, Zambeef Products Chief Executive Officer Francis Grogan said: "Consumers are demanding higher quality meat, better hygiene standards and more value for money. For these reasons Zambeef has become the supplier of choice for households throughout the country, who recognise the benefits brought by Zambeef's international standards of food hygiene and meat handling procedures."In addition to convenient purchase of quality meat, dairy and egg products, shoppers are able to buy Zambeef's range of refreshments including Zamjuice milk blends, ZamSip drinking yoghurts, fresh milk and Zamanita cooking oil in Shoprite supermarkets.Zambeef's commitment to working with local suppliers means consumers are assured of fresh, quality products that also benefit Zambia's economy and help support rural livelihoods, added Mr Grogan

http://ukzambians.co.uk/home/2014/08/11/zambeef-impresses-south-american-farmers/Regional agribusiness giant hosts visiting Argentinian and Uruguayan farmers"Zambia is the future of African agriculture" – that's the message from a group of visiting South American commercial farmers who toured operations at Zambeef Products' Huntley Farm in Chisamba at the weekend.Zambeef hosted some 16 farmers from Argentina and Uruquay, who inspected the company's meat processing plant, feedlot and cropping operations as part of a wider tour of South Africa and Zambia."We are impressed with Zambeef. It is very good," said group leader Prof. Enrique Erize. "We think that Africa is the future of agriculture in the world; and Zambia is the future inside Africa.""We think that the future is Zambia because of the location, because of the kind of soil, and because of the rain," he added, pointing out that Zambia is home to 40 percent of the water resources in Southern Africa, and that globally, 80 percent of water is used for agriculture. The South American visitors – who farm a variety of crops such as wheat, soybeans and maize in their home counties – were particularly interested to hear about Zambeef's cropping operations.Zambeef does not use genetically modified (GMO) seed in its soya and maize production or indeed any other grain crop, explained Huntley Farm General Manager Francis Mondomona. Despite our colleagues in advanced agricultural economies like Argentina and Brazil that have GMO soya and maize, our yields per hectare  are still very competitive with non-GMO seed.He emphasised that Zambia is the only country in the region with a wheat surplus, and that Zambeef is the largest single producer of wheat and soybeans in the country.

Chart starting to trend up by the looks of it. IC were optimistic in their half year review of their tips of the year 2014. "with the shares trading at a massive 60 per cent discount to net asset value per share of 85.7¢ (50.4p), serious value is on offer" "We think positive newsflow that suggests Zambeef is making progress with this three-pronged strategy should help improve sentiment and the share price."

http://www.daily-mail.co.zm/index.php/business/item/5333-comesa-hails-zambeefBy FELIX NKINKETHE Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) has commended ZAMBEEF Plc for the critical role the agro-company plays in contributing to food security in Africa.COMESA Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) deputy coordinator Meebelo Nalishebo said Zambeef has shown a good case of private sector involvement in food security in Africa.Dr Nalishebo said Zambeef's integrated business system where the company is involved in crop farming, livestock keeping, value addition and retail trading throughout the entire value is impressive."We see Zambeef as a good example of best practice for member states and private sector entities to learn from where one farm is doing cropping and producing feed for another farm."What is impressive is that all the agricultural products are value added within the company's subsidiaries," she said. The latest CAADP publication quotes Dr Nalishebo as saying Zambeef's integrated business is encouraging governments of member states to engage the private sector in their agricultural development agenda. She urged COMESA members to create a conducive environment for attracting private sector involvement in agriculture to contribute to economic development.Meanwhile, Zambeef head of corporate affairs Felix Lupindula said the company makes a significant contribution to food and nutrition security in Zambia through its cropping and food processing divisions. He said Zambeef would continue playing a big role in promoting food security not only in Zambia but also in Africa. And Zambeef Chiawa Farms crop manager Rob Hoskins said the company was a major source of Lucerne, a high protein plant for livestock feed.He said Chiawa Farm also produces soya beans and maize, and is involved in fish farming on a small scale for domestic consumption.Mr Hoskins said the farm is completely dependent on irrigation as Chiawa is a relatively dry area, adding that water for irrigation is pumped from both the Zambezi and Kafue rivers.

Panmure Gordon issued a buy rating and a GBX 30 ($0.51) price target on the stock -------------- I wonder why PG did not tell us that they had stopped covering ZAM ?. Some talk of engaging Zambian institutional investors and also finding global strategic partners, as well as unlocking some of the capital gains in assets. All sounds like some fundraising/disposals/etc are on the way. Could be good news if at a premium, it doesn't look like they have pressing capital issues in the immediate term.

FT: Zambia has requested an International Monetary Fund aid programme to help get its government finances back on track, sending its bond yields hurtling down to record lows. ... The Zambian kwacha also reacted positively to the news, climbing 2.6 per cent against the US dollar. Apparently kwacha has been very weak hence impacting profitability on forex conversion. Haven't been following, but noticed this. Share price was a bit slow to react.
