Well, to be fair, I think you could look at the 'set-aside' policy before wondering about golf courses.

Take those golf courses back - 2% of all the UK land is used for putting. Don't worry about the odd bits of 2,4-D, bensulide, chlorothalonil, dicamba, maneb, mecoprop, thiram, trichlorfon, ziram lurking in the soil, its probably quite tasty.

The answer is definitely 'yes' for all sorts of ecological and economic reasons but, most importantly in my mind, for security of supply. The same goes for energy supplies.

Looks like another safe defensive to me with a good yield thanks for the tip, keep my eyes on that one. With this virus you will need safe defensives that can weather the storm imo

even Paul Scott mentioned CARR says they're good value: "Carr's (LON:CARR) - good results. Looks a decent value share on a PER of just under 10. Balance sheet OK. Worth a look for value investors."

He went on to drill right through the results in detail then summarised:

"My opinion - I'm warming to this, as a fairly simple value share. It may not shoot the lights out in share price (which has gone sideways for 5 years), but on a forward PER of 9.5, with a fairly sound balance sheet, it does look quite good value on reflection.

So a cautious thumbs up from me. It might suit a SIPP, or other long term portfolio, possibly?"

The valuation looks pretty crackers down here, notwithstanding short term dip in profits.

PE 8, yield 5.5%, valued not far off working capital, with a lot of freehold land n buildings in for free. For a steady old business that has mostly been increasing top line, profitability, divi etc year after year.

made me laugh watching the news earlier

showing a flooded street with a big sign saying "road liable to flooding"

there were lots of cars under water

if you lived in that road, would you not move your car before a big storm ?

The api reports are worth following, ok they may be a little behind the curve, when it does change, but they have saved me from investing as yet here.

Though I am tempted.

Very wet and very warm = very bad £ news?

As much as I would like to buy these cheaper, I would much rather we did not have this almost biblical flooding - cant be easy for the farmers and livestock.

Cant help but think this is going lower?
