17/1/2008 13:45 | LOL. Looks like my timing wasn't too bad after all, up a dollar. It looks like news kicked this off, but I'm not really following closely yet; anyone know what? Perhaps indian agriculture minister's call that production will be down 8% this season? | jackpipe

27/4/2007 09:35 | Hi MPG, Good luck - am sure I'll soon be joining you although I might go for AIGS and get some exposure to Coffee and Corn too. Not sure if you're a premium account holder here, but it would be useful to have an up to date sugar thread with some charts for the ETF and the up to date sugar futures? Jock | jockthescot
26/4/2007 18:03 | Hi Jock, I purchased the ETF today (on my ISA account) with an expectation of exiting in the autumn and in the hope that there is some seasonality to the price, together with an underlying long term up trend. Yes the currency risk is a worry but I see more upside in SUGA than USD downside.... fingers crossed. I have spreadbet in the past but find it too much of a worry due to volatility on a what is a margin trade. I think spreadbets are more suited to short term positions and they need constant and close monitoring - but each to his own. Stay lucky. MPG | mpg
26/4/2007 12:22 | Hi MPG, Thanks for pointing that out! Are you considering buying the ETF, or Spread betting, or buying futures? Am interested in your thoughts. My own view is that Sugar will rise, this or next year so I am trying to take a long term approach. Do you think the currency risk of buying the ETF (SUGA) in $$ is a worry? Jock | jockthescot
26/4/2007 09:29 | Jock, You might not get an answer.... note that the last posts were a year ago! There doesn't appear to be much interest on here in this ETF but I am considering buying SUGA right now. MPG | mpg
25/4/2007 14:44 | Sahara, What markets do you SB on for coffee and sugar. Am just about to take a position so would be interested to know your experiences. Have you looked at the ETF Securities ETC's? AIGS is Corn Coffee and Sugar. I'm not sure how to gain exposure to this without physicaly buying the stuff, but feel, despite short term pressure, this will move upwards in months to come. Jock | jockthescot
29/4/2006 17:39 | Short it more, cant see it going higher. | hvs
29/4/2006 17:35 | Hi Sahara, Im in the same boat, I found the Barclays Six-year Agricultural Commodities Plan. This has just closed and you need to lock your money for 6 years !! not what Im after though. if its successful I'm sure Barclays will launch another plan | thomas11
21/4/2006 11:04 | Apart from my spread bets on sugar and Coffee, I am finding it difficult to find any funds or companies in which to impart some of my burgeoning wealth from metals. Any Ideas? S. | sahara
