You would have thought that with VIX at 14 there'd be more scope for it to move higher rather than lower - but as always no guarantees and the longer it takes before the next spike the more detrimental it is for VILX.

Have just read a first review of the new Apple VR headset - the reviewer seemed to find it an amazing experience but was happy to take it off after half an hour and get back into the real world. With a price tag of $3500 - really ?

Adam Button at ForexLive just pointed out a sobering post by Christophe Barraud, who thinks the June CPI report could fall to around 3% for several reasons:1. CPI shelter likely peaked in March and will contract on a y/y basis soon2. Agricultural and fertilizer prices have fallen sharply, with food prices likely to follow3. Supply chain disruptions have eased significantly4. Gasoline prices are down nearly 30% y/y in June5. CPI services ex-shelter could ease slowly but should mirror slowing wage growthPerhaps most-convincingly, he shows that the swaps market is pricing in June CPI slightly below 3% y/y in June. (article link: https://www.christophe-barraud.com/us-cpi-still-on-track-to-be-around-3-yoy-in-june/) It's almost magical but more and more plausible. This explains the market's continued exuberance and optimism and bodes ill for your portfolio's defensive positioning if CPI comes in like that next Tues. Stocks and risk assets would take off.

Yup similar here - as always 3ULS would have been the better option - VILX is seriously dodgy

Factory orders and ISM both worse than forecast

I thought bad news was now supposed to be bad news for the market after years of it being good news ?

Just to highlight it traded at 80p at start of year and has halved since 20p at start of May.
Perhaps check with Russia's Mr.P what his plans are (and to what timescale) ?
Oh and don't invest more than you can afford to lose ;-)

Then again, volatility could stay low for an extended period ... not sure if we can expect any 'surprises' anytime soon. Fed pause at next meeting expected now too.

VIX at 16 point something now

Though Debt ceiling resolution effect seems to be wearing off already - taken a small punt on VILX but not expecting fireworks ...

VIX 15-16 remains my favoured entry point here, if at all (don't like having to continually monitor it).
