Platy,
You could still have someone like Wulstan acting as the MM. If he is not, how do you account for the large number of trades he is making?
Edit
Including selling shares to one guy and buying the same shares back at double the price. Not the actions of your average trader.

What a load of tosh on here this afternoon, make no wonder copper has given up...

Andy, there is no 'book' on Britdaq. Every matched trade needs a buy and sell of the same price. Its that simple.

If the spread is 15-19 and a matched trade goes through at 15, that tells you something different to if one goes thru at 19.

In one case it is a seller who has appeared, placed a 15p sell order and got it immediately matched by the book. Whereas if a buyer appears they'd need to offer 19p to get stock from the book. Thus for a 15p trade in that situation you'd say the 'last mover' was a seller whereas in the same spread a 19p match would have a new buyer as the 'last moved'.

I can explain this another way if anyone is struggling with this context - always happy to help out the stereotypically intellectually enfeebled upper classes.

I give up. You can't educate pork, and the crackling has just arrived.

TTFN.

If Wulstan is acting as the MM rather than just pocketing the money then whether it is a buy or sell has got to be based on whether the trade is nearer the bid or ask.

Well depends on who appears to have benefitted the most...

Has Roy hacked your account?!?

If you were looking to buy a house and it was on the market for £10m....

You offered £9m and the seller accepted it, have you not bought a house?

I didn't realise that only the seller has sold.

copper,

No the principal is the same.

There's still a buyer and seller, and if the seller is lowering his price he is clearly motivated to sell, so I would class that as a sell trade, not a buy.

If a clever seller got a buyer to increase his bid, I would call that a buy trade.

Any trade on any market is a buy and a sell, clearly, but the motivation for doing so is assessed by proximity to bid/offer, and the trade classified accordingly.

Errrr no, then it would be a smart buyer making the seller lower his price.

Any trade on Britdaq is both a buy and a sell simultaneously regardless of it being at 1p or £1

You are getting confused with stocks that have market makers.

Copper,

Clearly if a trade is at or very close to the bid it's likely a sell, and vice versa.

I accept BRITDAQ isn't a market, just a dating service, but if you're looking to sell you'll have to match with someone on the bid, or someone will have to up their bid to your offer price.

The trade in question therefore looks like a sale as the price was closer to the bid.

And just to help you out, we were talking about completed TRADES, not the bid.

HTH.

Poor copper ...

he doesn't seem to understand how Britdaq works ....

Just to help him out - The bid is the top price that someone is now willing to pay for shares - in real time - and potentially could be the next trade.

You're welcome - happy to be of assistance :)

Andy you are being a Roy.

A moron.

The 15p trades are as much buys as they are sells.
