Apparently Quindell (another win for Tom) backed AE to sue TW for defamation whilst Tom was in Greece.

On TW's return to UK and with his evidence, the verdict was overturned.

WRN we know, Quindell?

I was in court yesterday for the first morning of the trial proper, when the FCA's lawyers set out their case. There are three areas they are going for. The fact that they believe WRN was insolvent for pretty much the whole period the gang were in charge, hence trading while insolvent; the rapid rise in the share price based on the series of announcements (which were unjustified as little due diligence had been done on the proposed acquisitions; and the fact that Wulsten Earley was involved in money laundering the gains from his disposal of shares in WRN (profits £1.98m, profits that were too be shared on a pre-agreed basis between the team). Amusing to hear Counsel explaining to the jury what "pump and dump" was.

bbms, i understand that some brown envelopes were indeed sent
out, at long last, but apparently there was some terrible mix-up
so those brown envelopes ending up going through the letterboxes
of the WRN 5 summoning them to appear in court themselves. oops.

6 weeks since the pro wrn poster alluded to one of the Wrn 5 dying and still no confirmation of the news. A poster writing they’ve ‘just heard’ of a death amounts to nothing and just makes me more sceptical, if that’s possible.

Don't get me wrong David, but had I lost money in WRN and Whetstone you can bet your cotton socks I'd be wishing them ill.

Unless the pro wrn poster states the name of the person that has allegedly died, I will find it extremely hard to believe.

I recall SK mentioning a prelim court hearing for the alleged fraud committed by the WRN crew this March, can anyone confirm if that's correct?

The old adage you can't con an honest person does spring to mind. Also what the judge who sent AE down last time said:

"Judge Denis Lloyd told Earley: ''When you deal with other people's money and public money, you must account for how you do it.''

The Judge added that he felt little sympathy for greedy investors who had given Earley their money."

However there were a lot of ordinary decent people who bought their shares in Main Market (forget to mention Standard) Official List WRN in the normal ways PIs buy shares. Yes it looked too good to be true and indeed it was not true, but only some were tipped the wink to get out before suspension, whilst others were piling in to what they had been led to believe, through RNSs and other IR comms channels was going to be a multi £Bn global conglomerate (classic pump and dump). This was not a victimless crime and did not just impact the stupid and greedy. That is why there are laws to protect ordinary people against this sort of thing and why regulators exist to prosecute those who break them. The WRN 5 are being prosecuted because FCA have sufficient evidence to bring the charges, it has nothing at all to do with what anyone has posted or will post on a BB and those who try to insinuate that it does are clearly the real slimeballs. The trouble is it will be 10 years after the event by the time the verdict is in and nearly everyone will have forgotten the ordinary victims. However, in the morning and at the going down of the WRN 5, we will remember them.
