17/7/2017 17:06 | Whilst fully recognising that WPCT should be considered primarily as a 'longer term' investment, I think it worthy to note today's 'price action' that continues to maintain the momentum of recent weeks. | mazarin
14/7/2017 23:09 | I remain confident in it too. Bio-tech performance in US will influence and just have to wait for companies in the portfolio to reach milestones. Will usually take longer than expected. | p1nkfish
14/7/2017 16:46 | WPCT July update issued today: Recognises that the Fund in June returned to positive territory, due in part to upturn in biotech holdings and concludes " we remain confident in the trust’s ability to deliver attractive long-term returns to shareholders". see details: | mazarin
13/7/2017 14:58 | Let's hope. I bought at the start and sold at 113 re-bought at 95 and hope to get to set a stop loss at 107 and otherwise hold. | toffeeman
12/7/2017 09:46 | Currently quoted at 99.95p having earlier momentarily touched £1.00, the big question is - will it today actually reach or exceed that by maintaining current momentum above the fund's original £1 launching price set in 2015...? It was last seen there during a declining trend recorded in April 2016. I also note that Purplebricks (next to the fund's top holding at 10.36%) continues its trend so far to make steady gains everyday this week. Will it be today? Time will tell..... ! Edit: Update WPCT actually was up, but remained just under £1, closing at 99.65p today | mazarin
10/7/2017 18:16 | Oxford nanopore could be huge....but it's still very early | dr biotech
06/7/2017 18:21 | I took interest in this fund following its launch a few years ago, but didn't buy at the time, however a year or so later I did consider moving a couple of my ISA savings into WPCT from InvescoPerpetual during Autumn 16. Having previously monitored WPCT closely for several months, I initially gave Fidelity Funds Network (FFN) the instruction to first sell my Invesco holdings, once IP paid the final dividend, then retained funds as cash within my ISA envelope and waited to see how WPCT continued to perform or otherwise. I had seen WPCT drop a few times to 88.1p during late Oct and thinking Neil Woodford would not be content to let these falls to continue for much longer, I thought it then possibly a suitable time to take a £30k position. End of Oct 16 I gave FFN instructions to buy WPCT, but the process took over a week to achieve and by the time they had finally secured WPCT on my behalf in (early Nov16), the 'sp' had moved up a few points to 91.8 and with the spread, I was a little 'miffed' to see, I that had effectively bought WPCT for the equivalent of 93.6p. The price stabilised but still stumbled along the low 90's for several months, not doing much either way, so I decided (patiently) to leave it a while to allow it time sort itself out. Since around May this year, it was refreshing to note WPCT had started to 'perk up' a little and hold on to its gains and today was therefore even more pleased to see it closed to finish up at 99p. At some point, there'll no doubt be some announcement as to what element of the fund is driving it upwards, a trend that I hope will continue. Neil Woodford has made a commitment to transparency in his dealings, so am therefore hopeful that we should soon be advised and await the Fund's next monthly report with interest.. | mazarin

06/7/2017 08:30 | Anything to do with GYG plc that floated yesterday and Woodford said to be a major holder (presumably under WPCT)? | wtacraig1

05/7/2017 14:58 | I've been away. What moved the share price up? | timnet
03/7/2017 08:50 | Am in profit here again which is nice. Would be good if we could push on a bit more. | jamesjamiebarlow
29/6/2017 16:47 | Well, depending on who is short, when, and to what degree, a time will come when they will need to cover. It is probably just a hedge and will help price discovery. Let them get on with it. | p1nkfish
29/6/2017 14:12 | Dr B - NAV is virtually meaningless with WPCT | toffeeman
29/6/2017 13:20 | Purple bricks must be one of his best investments of all time. Not sure that it should be valued so highly but their results out today show impressive growth. NAV hasn't changed much over the last few weeks so not really sure why the share price has risen, not complaining though | dr biotech
29/6/2017 09:55 | I have no problem with shorting (I do it myself as a hedge when a stock has reached a resistance point put I wish to hold it long term). I am a long term holder of WPCT but if it is going to get shorted by 10% soon then I would like to protect my position so may consider doing the same. | toffeeman
29/6/2017 09:30 | Toffee - why would their selling be a worry, unless you're a short-term holder yourself? Actually short sellers of a stock don't necessarily expect the price to fall! In this case, it might be somebody who wants to short PURP but can't borrow any stock, so does the next best thing. Personally I think Woodford should unload a chunk of them. | jonwig
29/6/2017 08:17 | Yep I know - but the only purpose of those who borrow stock is so they can short | toffeeman
29/6/2017 00:11 | Normal sort of thing, they earn off it and so do their investors. Very common. | p1nkfish
28/6/2017 14:10 | Yup, and still at a discount to NAV. | woodpecker25
28/6/2017 13:17 | Moving quite a bit today. | chinahere
28/6/2017 11:02 | So have I got this right? Black Rock have loaned out 0.29% of the share capital so that someone can short WPCT? (poss another Black Rock vehicle?) | toffeeman |
