Risks reward, this Trust is helping build future new business, even industries.
You do it by seeding, nurturing and being in for the long haul from near the beginning.
The current performance should be no shock if you understand the philosophy of the Trust.

WPCT certainly hasn't suffered too much and has a decent spread to help reduce risk.

It will turn and gain upward momentum and not look back.

I said I would not respond but will make an exception and this time it will be the final response.

Obviously logic is not your forte:

"By-the-way, I bought the trust at the beginning. I sold out at 14% gain and then have bought back recently. Not bad for a stupid investor." --- flipping wpct in the first one or two months while self-labeling as a devoted Woodford fan of patient long-term investor? Isn't the message behind your boasting is to advise Woodford and other investors to flip trading like you? (By the way I am not against it as I perceive it as better valuing and better timing)

"Now we start name calling. First sign of a failing argument" --- it is "Not naming calling" if it was YOU who called other poster stupid simply because the other poster stated the fact that wpct performance was poor (This is clearly stated in the Trustnet of its performance as 17/17 Quartile 4 ranking--- actually the last in quartile 4).

Among your many admirable characteristics, illterate, assumptive (hint: look at the first three letters of "assumptive") I will now add deaf/blind.

"I would advise you to stick to something other than WPCT " --- Didn't I wrote clearly I don't need your advice about where to put my money in my last message and said I may buy wpct if and when I see value and see its portfolio is turning up, i.e a better timing and value opportunity.

"unwarranted slandering of a decent professional" --- This is accusation without any foundation. Where did I slander a professional? What I stated is that the fact of poor performance of wpct, just as it is stated in the trustnet website and therefore one needs to be skeptical and not to believe anyone blindly, no matter what reputation is behind it.

"Minerve, perhaps better call yourself me-nervous."

Now we start name calling. First sign of a failing argument.

"You again prove you cannot read, as you are basically validating my view. That is Woodford has mistimed as you yoursefl said the good way is to buy it in tranches, not betting all you have in one go and on just a few ipos or bios which by defintion are high risk business, which was Woodford did and was what I am not a big fan of."

Mistimed is very easy to say in hindsight. Biotechnology and pharmaceuticals have been relatively weak since Hillary made a 'tweet' on costs within healthcare. No one saw that coming. Also, you have to have a fund up-and-running to invest in businesses as and when they arrive on the scene. The name of the fund tells you all you need to know about early stage investment - it takes time and often many rounds of funding and capital investment. I think this is where your frustrations are in that you haven't fully absorbed the risks and business involved.

I would advise you to stick to something other than WPCT as it will only lead to more frustration from yourself and unwarranted slandering of a decent professional.

By-the-way, I bought the trust at the beginning. I sold out at 14% gain and then have bought back recently. Not bad for a stupid investor. I have been in this business 20 years and I know you haven't purely based on your comments which are naive.

Minerve, perhaps better call yourself me-nervous.

You again prove you cannot read, as you are basically validating my view. That is Woodford has mistimed as you yoursefl said the good way is to buy it in tranches, not betting all you have in one go and on just a few ipos or bios which by defintion are high risk business, which was Woodford did and was what I am not a big fan of.

You are not only illiterate but also assumptive, which is all the ingredients to being a stupid investor. Where is your logic asserting that registering on here just this years == new to investing? Where is your logic about anyone stating some facts == a pensioner? (how many winners can you pick from wpct portfolio and how many losers this year? To get a few wrong is excusable and to get most of them wrong is something else)

I do know Woodford has a big reputation behind him and that and his innovative management fee arrangement with wpct, were what attracted me to follow wpct. It was exactly my skepticism that has stopped me to invest in wpct at the start or even now as I didn't buy the hype and as a general rule I don't buy any IT in premium.

As for my money I don't need you or anyone to tell me where to put it. I may buy or may not buy wpct but it will all depend on my judgement if it is good value and if the underlying portfolio is going to turn up.

I will draw a close re: this conversation with you. At the end of the day you are responsible for your money and I am responsible for mine, and Woodford is responsible for the performance of wpct(poor over nearly two years).

"What a big willy you have Minerve - you should definitely keep waving it, everyone is very impressed."

Well, do you agree with my analysis or not? If you do, why make the post? If you don't, then please state your case. Otherwise, why don't you just keep those silly little opinions to yourself.

You joined this site this year. You come on here and you start to question Woodford. Dear me. He is probably one of the best investment managers this country has ever had. When you've been in the business and have his experience, and like me, been in this 20 years. Come back and then make a valid contribution. There are too many idiots coming on this site thinking they are investment professionals because they have got a bit of money or their recent liquid pensions to spend.

If you believe in what Woodford is investing in, then what you should do is allocate a section of your portfolio and buy into this in tranches, not all at once. Many times market sentiment is outside your control and even everyone involved in Woodford and its invested companies - with the best intentions - sometimes have outcomes that were not foreseen.

So there we have it, buy in tranches and shut-up or go back to putting your money in a bank savings account.

Minerve, you cannot even read, so you won't even be able to tell what is stupidity while being stupid. Where did you read that I bought at the start or now?

I am just stating that anybody even buy now, or perhaps even better next year as it looks likely it will go down even more, will have a much better performance than Woodford himself. So it is wise as an investor NOT to be religiously believing in anybody, Woodford included.

"Nobody has forced Woodford to be in early stage or bios"
"The fact is even if it is long term, it is much better to buy it now, or even buy it next year"

He chose to be. What a stupid comment. Does he need your mandate? LOL

Nobody is forcing you to buy at the start, now or next year, duh! Maybe it is you who doesn't know what investing long-term means. Why not go to a casino, eh? You will get an answer on the night.

Good invester must be skeptical, asking solid questions.

Bad performance is bad performance, no argument, no excuse.

Nobody has forced Woodford to be in early stage or bios, especially in such large scale. He has to take the responsibility of bad stock picking and bad timing.

It is not good enough to hide behind the long term, patient stuff. The fact is even if it is long term, it is much better to buy it now, or even buy it next year by the look of the wpct performance, than to have bought it almost two years ago. So the least to say is that the timing of most of his investment was lousy.

Just the cycle in my opinion.

Early stage not in favour, bio been flagging and market not ideal for ipo/exits at the moment.

What goes around comes around. Just need to be patient.

IPO and others also exhibiting weakness.

Pharmas taking a bit of a hit currently. Not good to see WPCT back in the 80s.. Maybe it's still early days for this trust but I had hoped for better than this!
