19/8/2018 14:03 | Hey, Brian, I founded a company that eventually ended-up on full-list. Millions were involved, as one can imagine, and everyone involved soon has sinister motives if not before. From shareholders, to peers, to stockbrokers, you soon end-up with very thick skin. I don't need to defend anything here, or prove anything. I mainly want to help others who are genuine investors wanting to make a modest income. I couldn't care less about the get rich quick merchants - I have yet to meet one who isn't a moron. My quality of life tells me all I need to know about my wisdom, intelligence, ability to take opportunity, and how thick my skin is. But hey, thanks for feeling sorry for me, and if you want to defend me - because I can't myself - I won't stop you. ;) | minerve
19/8/2018 12:43 | I feel very sorry for you minerve. They gang up on you because you don't seem to be able to defend yourself. Bullies are always bullies as you know yourself. May I suggest that you don't say things which will come back and bite you. I'm a little confused about your reference to ltcm's puppet master. Do you mean jonwig or Tom Winnifred? | brianarthur1939
19/8/2018 11:51 | I don't know why you see that as some kind of gotcha, 1tcm1. The fact that someone who had such respect for Woodford has lost faith in him so much is even more illuminating than someone who has always been cynical about Woody criticising him. | daffyjones
19/8/2018 10:43 | Anyone remember this post from minerve ? "I have been in this business over 20 years. I can reassure you Woodford is up there with the best there is, no question. Of course, investing is not a game of perfection, it never will be, it is a game of managing risk with a view to long-term growth and not many will do it better than Woodford. I am a great admirer of him as a professional and as an individual. His views and attitudes pretty much mirror mine and his willingness to be open and transparent is second to none. If I had to hand my money over to someone in trust for the future, he would be the first, even before family members. Woodford is no different now than he was decades ago. Solid 100% professional with untouched integrity." | 1tcm1
19/8/2018 10:08 | The remit of the board is what it is and rightly so. Get over it or go and create a new one you imbecile, nobody is stopping you. | minerve
19/8/2018 09:00 | @ daffy, post #4120 - two major private hospital groups (Ramsay Health UK, Spire Health) have said in the past month that they have experienced falling NHS referrals (Spire's share price took a big blow). That suggests to me any future candidates for proton beam therapy will be expected to join the in-house waiting lists or self fund. | jonwig
19/8/2018 08:46 | WPCT's annual report to end-Dec 2016 shows the fund owned 7% on Abzena, but the half year report to end June 2017 showed the holding had vanished. As WIM still owned the same number of shares the holding must have been transferred | daffyjones
18/8/2018 22:18 | Daffy, what is your source for this (transfer)? Bloomberg reports a transfer of about 19mm shares (if my memory serves me well) in about the first half of 2017, but I did not cite it as there is some concern about the accuracy of Bloomberg’s reporting of the current holding of Abzena within WPCT. | chucko1
18/8/2018 21:03 | Interesting article in the Daily Fail today about the NHS paying £25k to send a kid to Germany for proton beam therapy. Includes the sentence "Although proton beam therapy is currently unavailable in the UK, the NHS is building two centres to provide it." I guess Proton Partners need to work on their PR. Need to get the word out if they ever want to win an NHS contract. Incidentally Abzena was transferred out of WPCT back in the first half of 2017. One of the early casualties of the need to punt quoted shares to WEIF in return for unquoted guff to ensure WEIF didn't breach its statutory limits. | daffyjones
18/8/2018 00:30 | Didn't your daddy not tell you Card Factory isn't in Wpct. ? | chuckol
17/8/2018 23:44 | p.s. Minerve, naturally, is no more than the proverbial fart on the edge of the thunderstorm. L O L | trollwatch
17/8/2018 18:24 | jonwig Yes, you are right. I do get dragged into such nonsense. I should know better than that. I am going to filter (one strike & filtered), starting Monday. Have a good weekend. | minerve
17/8/2018 18:24 | Jonwig, very sensible. Except ... ... I do actually find it useful to look beyond the pure analysis of a stock/fund/bond and get an insight into the sorts of investors who hold it and why, and in particular, what there emotions are. Whether or not the cabal of so-called investor(s) who “contribute Nevertheless, I find that most of their posts leave some sort of clue either by way of expression, emphasis, slip or omission. Plenty of that today alone! That said, enough already! It’s getting a little boring. The subject of WPCT and NW is too interesting to have sensible discussion derailed. So that’s a lot of filtering that I will have to do as they keep appearing from all angles! | chucko1
17/8/2018 17:57 | @ Minerve - "A poor thread for a poor investment IMO." You are, I'm afraid, right. I've tracked back to the beginning of this thread. Half of the posts took us from Feb'15 to Feb'18 and the content was generally sensible, and worth reading and contributing towards. It was, I think, earlier this year that some in the press turned negative on the fund and its manager - the FT was prominent here. Disillusioned holders generally slope off and stop posting, but here there's obviously a concerted effort to disrupt the thread and prevent reasonable discussion. (Go back to the beginning to see what reasonable discussion is.) It's also malicious, as some have visited unrelated threads on which I post. To my mind the only solution is to filter the offender(s) and not read them or engage with them, as creation of noise over information is exactly what they want to achieve. They want to drive away those who wish to share information objectively. Every comment which engages with them is a minor victory for them. Of course, "them" might be singular, not plural. | jonwig
17/8/2018 17:09 | Hey sorry chuckowinnie, if you are upset by one of my posts, I'm frankly disinterested. If you send me a thousand apologies, I might reconsider. | pete_bane
17/8/2018 16:54 | Don't worry topvest, I'd already filtered you. Always best to filter people that can't be polite. One strike and FILTERED. | pete_bane
17/8/2018 16:50 | Multiple aliased numpties all over the place! A poor thread for a poor investment IMO. Have a good weekend folks spending the money you didn't make! LOL | minerve
17/8/2018 16:34 | Always best to filter people that can't be polite. One strike and FILTERED. | topvest |
