29/10/2001 17:08 | Anyone see this ... if this becomes the "trendy" thing to do it could cause some fun and games. Boots has become the first major British company to shift its entire pension fund out of shares and into bonds. The health and beauty products company, which has a fund worth £2.3bn, changed direction to ensure it would meet its liabilities to cover employee pensions. Recent stock market uncertainty and greater life expectancy have been factors in the decision, according to reports. The move by one of the largest pension funds in the UK, which has 72,000 members, is expected to be confirmed when the company announces its interim results in early November. However, it could be seen as a massive vote of no-confidence in the stock market - and there is concern that if other major pension funds followed suit the equity markets could fall further. Major significance Until April 2000, Boots' pension fund consisted of up of 75% equities, 20% short-dated bonds and 5% cash. But lower inflation and interest rates, combined with increased life expectancy and a 25% fall in the UK stockmarket had forced it to move into fixed-interest investments. | fat.bloke

29/10/2001 14:43 | money mag , cbry would be in real shares , made me over 1200 in the last few weeks but no need to rush in , i just like to trade it if the price gets pulled down by tech strength , under those circumstances it gives profits but as everything is heading south i shall wait, cash is great to have as everything falls, for now i want to see some tech weakness (i wish). | taximania
