Should hopefully get a positive write-up in SCSW tomorrow after the October acquisition of Ark Group. If £1.80 or so holds, then there's good potential upside from here.

Price is just shy of a major breakout with an upside target at 2.40 (from 5 year chart). Excellent opportunity to buy if/when the breakout takes place.

Wilmington current yr in line with expectations after raising FY profits

LONDON (AFX) - Wilmington Group PLC said the current year has started in
line with expectations after it reported an 18 pct increase in profit before tax
and exceptionals for the year to June 30 2005 to 12.1 mln stg.

The professional information and training group said it benefited in the
year under review from its successful restructuring.

On the back of the strong results, the board raised the total dividend by 20
pct to 3.6 pence per share.

In the year, the group said all core sectors of the business made good
progress, increasing margin and profit. It noted a particularly strong
performance by the key Legal and Regulatory and Healthcare divisions, which
increased trading profit by 13 pct and 51 pct respectively.

The board said it is confident of future good progress. Trading in the
current year will be weighted towards the second half, it added.

Chief executive Charles Brady said: "We have a strong reputation in areas
that we want to develop and are well-placed to uncover and exploit the exciting
possibilities that we believe the current market offers."

He added that the board is encouraged by the progress made in the year to
June 30 2005 and remains confident of further good progress this financial year.

The results next month should be good if the recent statement is anything to go by:

"Wilmington Group PLC said it expects trading for the year to June 30 to be significantly ahead of the year earlier"

I noticed the scsw write up too. They said:

"One sector we really like at the moment is the business publishing/exhibition sector with some excellent trading statements from Wilmington and Tarsus which report in September...Both have balance sheets that are way too unerleveraged and we expect further acquisitions, either bolt ons or ones that are transformational in nature".

Good to see that such a quality tipsheet is bullish on the share. It also currently holds WIL in its portfolio which is as good a recommendation as any.

Excellent write up in SCSW this month with a buy recommendation ahead of the results next month.

Looking good. By now you might be thinking its a good time to get in with the company recently announcing that profits will be significantly ahead of those last year.

No this stock really is just too boring there is nothing about it that shines so I'm not topping up. I bought shed loads in 1997 and got out at £4 in Dec 99
Its not going to reach there in the short or medium term and its not the publisher it was : now more swagger than deliver!

'The Law Society continues to review its approach to CPD and the kind of activities which count towards the minimum annual training requirement of 16 hours. The importance of maintaining standards through continuing professional development is highlighted by the recent appointment of a Chief Assessor for CPD.

Chat that the Law Society will increase this to 50 hours. If that happens WIL is going to the moon.
