the lack of company news is deafening, but something is stirring the share price on a steady upward course. I'm not complaining about the share price since I hold, but when are the punters going to be let in on the news? camlad

Just in case any WIL holders/traders don't realise.....it will be going on to the SETSMM trading system on Monday week (11th July). IMO that will mean wider spreads a lot of the time, plus worse liquidity - we'll soon see!

Future eyes games magazine dominance with Highbury bid

Sources at print publishing firm Future have indicated that it has tendered a bid for rival publisher Highbury House, the parent company of its last major rival in the UK games magazine market, Paragon. ...

Future would want to sell the business titles.

"Magazine giant Highbury House has been forced to issue a statement to the City after the company's shares jumped a massive 25% today on the back of a potential bid for the business.

Speculation has increased today that three magazine groups – Future, Wilmington and Centaur – are rumoured to be interested in the group, publisher of Front, Real Homes, Fast Car and the recently launched Spin cricket title."

HHO have a lot of debt and the enterprise value will be high.

I suppose WIL could buy the equity cheaply, reduce the debt by selling the consumer titles and then restructure the business titles. They have a good record of cutting costs and integrating acquisitions.

I suspect Future would be prepared to pay the most, as the consumer titles are the biggest part of HHO.

"Despite the mid-cycle adspend wobble in the fourth quarter of last year, we believe 2005 will be another year of cyclical growth for the media sector."

"The conversion of incremental revenues to operating profit is strongest in B2B and broadcasting companies and these sub-sectors continue to offer the most attractive growth potential going forward."

"What is the catalyst for performance? With the weight of money venture capitalists have to invest – over $500bn globally, according to Private Equity Intelligence – we expect consolidation to gather momentum and corporate activity to thrive across the sector."
