It's human nature I'm afraid. Can't change it, but legal frameworks are supposed to protect us from it to a certain extent. I suspect here that there is a significant risk that the snowflake culture we are living in will lend support these changes.

All-Party Parliamentary Groups are "informal groups of Members of both Houses with a common interest in particular issues".

They can't pass legislation, but they can make proposals, and their proposals tend to have a good chance of success (since they have cross-party support).

The work carried out on behalf of this particular group has been funded by (and I appreciate the transparency, with these names given on page 1 of the report):

Derek Webb, who has made a fortune inventing games for land-based casinos
Bacta, the trade body for operators of land-based games machines
Hippodrome Casino
Gauselmann Group, which owns the High Street gaming chain Cashino

I can't think of any reasons why these groups would want curbs on online gambling, can you? Similarly, it was a coincidence that Sheldon Adelson was Donald Trump's largest donor!"

How interesting! That the "work" of this "All-Party Parliamentary Group" is actually funded by people whose interest is in land-based casinos and land-based gambling. How very surprising that the "All-Party Parliamentary Group" should have come to the conclusion that the right thing to do was to hobble the online gambling business.

Still, maybe I'm being too cynical here, maybe I should believe in the "work" done by the "honourable" ladies and gentlemen of Westminster.

But then again, I'm not that stupid.

At the moment pardon the pun, the chart looks rank (weekly/daily), but 165 represents a support from Apr and July that also looks like the neck of the iH&S pattern that gave the target around 200 that I previously talked about. That might now hold as support, although that was a lot selling pressure so it's perhaps a big ask to be looking for an immediate rise from that level. If price was to close below 165, then there is a rising tl support (only 2 touches on June 3rd/Aug 5th that might act as support on the weekly chart at 150 (today, but that obviously rises each day). Also worth considering that the results of a study suggesting capping online stakes/increasing regulation, may not quickly turn into increased regulation itself. WMH is doing well for the moment in the US and until there's more clarity on whether increased regulation will happen at all, it might be worth considering this drop in share price to be a buying opportunity for the short to medium term. I'm watching to see whether there is evidence that share price is turning, but remain out for the moment.

Most Politicians are only interested in making sure they get re-elected and how high they can climb the greasy pole and for some will do anything to get the 'keys to number 10'.

Well they better put a limit on the lottery then and all the games they offer online and stop people buying more than 1 scratch card at a time !! But no we won’t mention that, because somebody’s problem is a charitable gain. WMH already shutting 700 shops and still they want more, not happening, all utter bxxxshxx

Yep and if this things gets politicised it'll become a race to tighter controls. £2 limit, no credit card or overdraft betting will decimate revenues imo dyor ofc.

Wow, you just can't tell what's going to be around the corner, but that is a logical progression for stake limits. I hadn't thought of it before, but now it looks to have been almost inevitable that it would be considered. Billy Hill dropping again this alvo, presumably as the US comes on line. Might see 165 afterall!

Up 50p in 3 months is always going to attract some profit takers...on the plus side quarterly profit will be stellar given favourable run of sports results. GVC were up 3 weeks ago with Q3 but here the lack of news is not helping, last year they chose to present bizarrely a 16 week time period on 8 Nov which they put in diaries as the announcement date a fortnight before...nothing as yet this year
