Massie says he will announce the b to b contract wins as they arise. Some are under discussion others already out for tender. To make this comment he must be pretty confident of landing a few in the near term.

Yep, buyers returning, now the holidays are over, investors looking for opportunities to park money, especially where stocks have had a good pull back,

your average school teacher is £5K worse off than 2010. They will need extra income to get that £5K - that is about 1,000,000 of them. I dont think WEY are going to have any trouble recruiting any time soon.

ramp the important thing here is despite some of the dross posted on here by the numpties the business is very scaleable indeed.

N/C Hi:
Finally we're on the same page; the state fires them and WEY hires them.

squid: What I'm saying WEY are not creating more kids. So if more kids go to WEY less kids are going to the state sector, thus the state sector needs less teachers. The supply and demand balance out. There never will be a point where the teacher supply runs out (as long as we are just talking UK)

Thank you for 859,and earlier posts, all of which I have read and fully agree with.

N/C:
I also agree with 858, but 857 is incomprehensible to me; WEY isn't creating more pupils, but if they enrol them, surely they need to hire more teachers in order to keep classes to a respectable size and engage the occasional one-to-one.

squidd you would do well to read some of my earlier posts on the operational gearing of the business i suggest you use the search function.

It costs around £3K/student
grosss margin is 50% roughly
admin costs are stable for the foreseeable future at around £1.3m

you do the math they only need 1500 students to do 1p eps.

they already have 1000 students. not rocket science to see the potential.

Just to clarify what I said using BBC figures.

I think WEY currently have about 60 teachers.

The BBC says that the number of qualified teachers or teachers assistants in the UK is 1.3 MILLION...... (2005 figures)...

If WEY had 1 MILLION teachers teaching 14 kids in a class at £3,000 per child that is £42,000 MILLION (1 MILLION TIMES £42,000) - That would be more profit then probably the entire FTSE 100 put together (well not quite but you know what I mean).

squidd: Its 100% scaleable in the UK for obvious reasons... If a child is at InterHigh he is not at the state school - WEY is not creating more children and thus it does not need more teachers! LOL.

The growth EXTERNAL to the UK will rely on (to some extent) teachers from that Country. Thus I think WEY have spanish teachers in Spain, and if it expands to China, no doubt it will require some Chinese teachers. Yes, there will be a point in some distant future when WEY runs out of teachers (When its market cap is in the billions) but surely not a worry for at least a few months (at the rate its growing) - sit back and relax - if we run out of teachers I think it will be time to light a few cigars!

the p.i. is undoubtedly an irritant, but did make a valid point today when speaking of scale-ability and the need for many teachers. And David Massie, in today's director's talk, did mention some one-to-one teaching, which underlines the point.

On a more positive note, I've spoken to a number of teachers, who assure me that there is a substantial pool of retired and semi-retired teachers as well as many youngsters, deterred by inner city problems with their sky-high rents, who would welcome an alternative teaching style that the internet offers. Hopefully, there to be recruited.
