It showed up after the market had closed yesterday - LSE trade No. 14, now shown as being timed at 17:15 but I'm pretty sure it was originally shown as a delayed trade from early afternoon when I checked last night.

There are a lot of shares moving around....more than normal. I did not see the 2.5m share trade.

Has no one noticed another huge 2.5M delayed sell after close? Dated yesterday at the same price as the Daniell sale, but a different amount of shares....

Difficult not to overthink. JD doesn’t pay herself a huge salary. It could be something as simple as wanting to move house & cashing in some chips. May be something else. Still has a lot of shares.

Lots of thoughts going round...
Are they thinking of retiring? Who is buying them? What do the new people want with WEY? Was some of the job adverts we've been seeing sort of replacement for some of their duties?

WEY is entering a new phase in its life (£10m+ turnover)..... I'll see how it all unfolds.

I'm very interested in new shareholders AND what any W H Ireland update.

Smithie, yes it’s a lot for the average joe but when you’ve run and grown a business for 20 years and floated it, one million is not going to buy you a mind blowing pension at 1% annuity rates is it! It might buy you a 3 bed flat in London, if you are lucky.

Whatever, if they can cash in £300k to put towards retirement or whatever, bloody good luck to them! It takes a lot of hard work, plenty of risk and stress in the early days to be successful.

The good news is that we seem to have a floor beneath us of around 11.25p per share.

The bad news is directors have decided to sell chunks over the past week at 10.75p and 11.25p which undermines the belief of some on this board that the price is going to appreciate significantly over the next few months.

Medium to long term I'm still a firm believer in WEY's potential and will keep a close eye on the news flow (especially who the institutional buyer is / are and what WH Ireland have to say in their next update).

Short term I've taken my profits and am out until the dust settles.

"How our Rescue courses work
Our Rescue GCSE courses run over 18 to 19 weeks, provide topic picked content supported by exam board specific preparation delivering the opportunity for disengaged learners to leave their secondary schooling with recognised core GCSE outcomes. Alternatively, where our Rescue GCSE course is not suitable for a young person’s learning needs we can provide level 1 and 2 functional skills in English, Maths and ICT."

'shareholding of the MD & hubby is not hugely valuable '

remaining shareholding is worth around £1.1 million quid

that's valuable in my eyes !!

buy maybe you are mega rich & you don't worry about the odd £1M here and there !

----

& with £1.1M they are still financially committed to WEY performing well

If there is institutional demand, surely arrangements would be made to direct it toward the Massie Estate which holds a fifth of the entire capital and are not directly involved in the running of the company. That said, I would not blame the Daniell’s for freeing up some capital from their shareholding. They are late 50’s/early 60’s and have been at this game since 2005 I think. Their shareholding is not hugely valuable so freeing up some cash seems sensible enough if they might be considering retirement in the next few years, assuming they are?

Would be helpful if we knew who 'demanded' these shares?!

Not quite the RNS I expected... Seems a bit disappointing in one way, but who knows perhaps those directors needed some cash, and preferred to sell some shares than to issue new equity, possibly at a discount? They're still keeping a good chunk anyway.

I am always wary of "instuitutional demand" forcing the hands of Directors/PDMR to offload....poor souls..so altruistic and selfless.

PR spin at its best !

A red flag in my view.

for "consulted existing shareholders" read "spoke to the BOD"

maybe the meetings with inst investors were held because they realised that
certain Board members wanted to offload.

or I am just too cynical?!!

Wey Education PLC

Director Dealings

Following the Company's preliminary announcement and meetings with existing and potential investors, the Company's broker received indications of interest in share purchases from a number of institutional investors. The Board believes that a wider spread of supportive investors is beneficial for public companies in general and consulted existing shareholders who held shares in sufficient numbers as to whether they could assist in satisfying this demand. Accordingly, the Company has received notification that Jacqueline Daniell, CEO and Paul Daniell, a Director of Interhigh Education Limited, a subsidiary company, have jointly agreed the sale of 2,750,000 Ordinary Shares in the Company to an institutional shareholder at a price of 11.25 pence per share.

Following these transactions Jacqueline and Paul Daniell's interest in the share capital of the Company is 10,316,490 Ordinary Shares, representing 7.5 per cent. of the Company's issued share capital.

Comment

Barrie Whipp, Chairman, commented "I am delighted that we have experienced strong institutional demand for our shares which has enabled this transaction. I am encouraged that further institutional shareholders are supportive of our strategy and the Board is pleased that our shareholder base has been broadened."

There is only actually one 2.75M share trade. Still very big for WEY. Dated today but it is clearly a worked trade over several days, offsetting the buying above 12p last week. I reiterate that someone is still dumping, and I think it can only be the Massie estate. They were issued over 5M shares just 2 months ago. Hardly surprising really, that his beneficiaries might want to offload 5M shares for a windfall, and perhaps leave the rest of their large holding to run? The good news is that I think that the 5M+ shares issued in Sept have probably now all been sold. If so there should be a holdings RNS tomorrow or Weds.NAI DYOR etc
