17/5/2019 11:35 | Good luck guys. Sold my small punt I bought on results day at 6.5p. Invested the proceeds into i3e. | jungmana

17/5/2019 10:40 | Smithie6, at the investor briefing, they said the lease in London expires in 2020 so not on the hook for much rent and it is being marketed by the landlord. I believe the exceptional of £310k in relation to the London offices relates to this and other closure leftovers. I assume if the landlord can re-let the place, Wey will have less to cover, but I don’t know the details of the contract. The positive of course is the net saving on overheads going forward. | bones
17/5/2019 10:27 | controlled by investment cos. that's good imo since should mean the dirs. "cant" use the co. for personal benefit (such excessive benefits/pay or free shares) ---- any views on how much loss is removed by the closing of the London learning ctr ? 135k rent, + how much in staff costs & city tax etc ?? | smithie6
17/5/2019 10:05 | This share is about growing the top line revenues. Profits will look after themselves in the future if the growth keeps coming but that will need marketing spend in the shorter term. | bones
17/5/2019 09:31 | well done all. BUT £8m after cash value for a business that delivered adjusted EBTIDA of under £200k....any more hiccups and it will head South again, so GLA and hope it continues to deliver! | qs99

16/5/2019 14:35 | bones - many thanks, it makes good sense to get all the bad news into H1 and then provide for any residual payments on the balance sheet. Best wishes, zulu | zulu_principle
16/5/2019 14:01 | sorry bones - penny only just dropped that this was teaching adults - a whole new range of courses could develop here. There are 451,900 school teachers in the UK. All are potential candidates for a WEY course on distant teaching/learning. | netcurtains
16/5/2019 13:53 | Net, that was what I covered in my notes of the meeting I think. Teaching the teachers. Good to see it getting publicity and therefore helping to give credibility to online teaching in the wider world! | bones
16/5/2019 13:09 | Interesting bit of news OR (says they are currently teaching this course - just started. Interesting move into adult learning) | netcurtains
16/5/2019 12:37 | Zulu, I think the provisions are for the exceptional costs not yet paid out in cash as at 28/2/19. At the meeting, I am sure I heard it said that there were still cash payments to go out in H2 in respect of the closing down processes but that as much of it as could be identified or anticipated was written off in H1 (as would be required under prudent accounting principles). I will try to find out more in time but it basically means that, of the cash on the balance sheet at 28/2/19, you can ignore £650k of it as that is set aside to cover payment of the closing costs in H2 (albeit, the write-offs have been made in H1 and therefore will not repeat in H2 - a timing difference in cash movements only, not a profit issue in H2). | bones
16/5/2019 12:19 | Thanks for the reply but I don't think so (if that was the case a similar provision would have been in place for previous years). Payments in advance are normally included under short term creditors. | zulu_principle
16/5/2019 12:13 | Maybe the £650k represents fees paid in advance and not yet delivered upon. | superadams
16/5/2019 12:10 | Good to see director buys, hopefully some institutional buys will also materialise now we have a clear (cash generative and profitable) strategy in place. Did anyone attending the presentation find out what the new £650k provision in the accounts was for? Wouldn't be surprised to see a slight pullback on profit taking given the scale of this week's rise. I've added a good chunk bringing my average down to just under 8p and will be holding for the medium to long term with more buys on solid news. | zulu_principle
16/5/2019 12:09 | I agree, Net. These guys are on extremely modest salaries for directors so coughing up £6k and £10k apiece is a reasonable sign of confidence in the company they work for. | bones
16/5/2019 11:20 | Nice to see two directors buying a few shares. Well done lads! | netcurtains
15/5/2019 12:54 | I first heard of Wey four years ago when a teenage relative enrolled for two years with InterHigh because of recurrent health problems which made normal school attendance impossible. I was very sceptical when I first heard of the move, but the calibre of teaching was outstanding and the transition subsequently to an ordinary school and now first year university has been seamless and very successful. | njl53
15/5/2019 11:42 | Justin Waite #WEY x3 average daily volume. Interims out this week. Cash generative, with £4.96m cash in the bank, mcap £10m.It's been a bit volatile since I first covered them back in Jan but growth remains? youtu.be/JFLVV-9WfEE | hamidahamida
15/5/2019 11:24 | looking wey better :) | spursspurs
15/5/2019 09:01 | Thanks Bones. Great feedback. Passion is the key. As my mum always said the most successful business people are not in it just to make money but rather they LOVE the product the sell. If you LOVE it others will too. | netcurtains |
