One thing not to get too caught up in is to think Interhigh is here solely to provide isolated teaching for special cases. InterHigh is a proper school first and foremost and most pupils are from situations where

- families or the pupils are not in one location for long periods (due to travelling or careers).

And/Or

- pupils are uncomfortable in a mainstream environment (due to bullying or anxiety issues).

And/or

- families choose to have their children educated privately and use this option which is substantially cheaper than standard private schools.

The isolated/special cases are maybe more the territory of Academy21 where they deal mainly with local authorities and similar bodies.

Verulamium, yes it is a subject to clarify with the board. I may call someone at Wey next week to see whether it is a storm in a teacup or otherwise.

You do understand that they're not crammed in anywhere Junderwood? They're at home, or on tour with a theatre or sports tour, or on the beach. The issue with large classes is whether they can get one to ones you time with the teacher when they need it, and whether the teacher can check that it's all sinking in. Either issue would cause results to fall and they certainly don't want that. Thanks for bringing the thread to our attention though, I wish I'd known about it before the last investors' evening - I don't recall any discussion of such large classes.

Bones: I am, as you know, a huge believer in Interhigh, and still have my holdings. It does appear the chap joined advfn specifically to write about wey (as long as its not the lady from TRD it should be OK).

Well bones I’m not a troll, just a concerned shareholder who finds the prices to be very odd.

Net I assume if we don’t like what we are seeing or the answers. We are able to vote and/or elect the board at the AGM.

Net, I said that on post 1795, and will contact the company in due course (after the interims are out I think would be a good time). I admit when I found out Junderwood had joined today, I suspected a troll at work :)

I think we should listen to Junderwood. He joined ADVFN just to make this point to us, so he is clearly concerned and wants to let us know. Not sure what he thinks the shareholders can do, but all information is worth hearing.

Our posts crossed! Yes, that was the one I found just now. I see it was dated last summer so it will interesting to find out more about how it has affected attitudes in the current academic year.

As for my handle, although I loved Star Trek, it was an old nickname from my thin days :)

On that point of reviews, I find this applies across all industries. Ever checked the Trustpilot reviews on restaurants or hotels? Usually, it’s 99 good to 1 bad and, reading the bad ones, you find it hard to believe they talk of the same joint!

It’s the same with Interhigh, you see a list of glowing testimonials and then comes one that says things like “My daughter could not log in so she missed the induction and I could not get my money back as we had a contract, blah blah etc”. Then they give a one star rating rather than think it through rationally.

Wey are there to educate, not be a parent.

On the question of class sizes, I just took a look at Mumsnet to see what I could find. There is something about some tutor session where the school was doing something involving a teacher/leader in a big gathering. It wasn’t clear exactly from the complaint of the mum concerned but it certainly doesn’t seem to relate to general classes. However, I hope in time to talk to Wey directors as a shareholder and this can be one of many points to discuss I am sure.

You joined ADVFN today to make that point?

That will be a mum on mums.net who has an axe to grind I guess? Please supply the URL link here and I will happily ask WEY to comment. As a shareholder with a decent holding, I am interested in this.

Absolutely Bones, I found it on a google search of the company and a website called mums.net popped up.

bones: but at other extreme you could have 60 million people look at a pre-recorded lesson (or higher) and use it as revision to pass GCSE or A levels.
then you have have mix of REAL TIME and RECORDED and then you get into a meta discussion as to the meaning of class size.

As the GUARDIAN said, "size" is the wrong question. The right question is: 'what are "results" ' ?

Another example, they were going to experiment with AI for Maths lessons. How many pupils could do one of those lessons together. It might be a lot bigger than we think

Per InterHigh website:

Ideal Class Sizes

In general, classes are kept to a maximum of 18 pupils up to IGCSE and 15 for A Levels to ensure each pupil has ample attention whilst being able to collaborate and engage with peers.

Junderwood - none of us are educationalists however perhaps this article might help:

If InterHigh can have large classes and keep quality high then clearly that is a good economic model . We'll find out more soon I guess)

NY Boy, yes, been saying that for two days or more (see post 1767 for example). Took a couple of days to get mine for 5.2p average. As you say, sit back and see where we go. I am not predicting prices or timelines though, just let nature take its course :)

True NY Boy but if they have 50-80 kids in a class then this isn’t go to work as a business. It might explain why the shares are so low.
