Absolutely, Spoons have the turnover to keep their beers spot on whereas many other pubs charging twice the price do not. I don't recall ever having a bad pint in a Spoons pub but have had many elsewhere.

the poll tax was just an excuse for the MSM and the wets to get rid of her.

like cutting taxes and expenditure, it was the right thing to do but politically misguided because she had not realised how deeply entrenched the communist BLOB was.. much worse now,of course.

I took advantage of the right to buy along with Angela lol ?I must admit it was marvellous giving me free money ,however I'm not sure the housing crisis as been helped ,as the house is no longer social housing? They never replaced them ?No such thing as society though ??So Cheers ??

I think She did a lot of good encouraging people to stand on their own two feet, encouraging people to buy Property and Shares, it wasn't an easy time though granted. The 70s were an absolute Nightmare for anyone who was there and the New Generations do not understand what went on.
Her undoing was the Poll Tax which should never have been implemented. The 80s were my Heyday, the Music and un PC World - I loved it!

So many people I know just do nothing and can live quite happily on generous benefits - Good Luck to them, but it isn't achieving much in a lifetime.

Sounds wonderful lol? However, by 1990, opposition to Thatcher's policies on local government taxation, her Government's perceived mishandling of the economy (in particular the high interest rates of 15% that eroded her support among homeowners and business people), and the divisions opening in the Conservative Party over European integration made her seem increasingly politically vulnerable and her party increasingly dividedThatcher also was blamed for spurring a doubling of the relative poverty rate. Britain's childhood-poverty rate in 1997 was the highest in Europe.

They all leave a mess except Margaret

Wilson/ Heath/ Callaghan/ Blair/ Cameron/ Sunak on all the usual metrics.

every UK government after Macmillan has left a mess.

the only exception was Margaret's government and the free ride given to her immediate trapeze artist successor.

It's not alone most down today. Sell in May etc etc looking spot on again this year. I can't see markets moving up consistently until Labour have won. I hope we have no hung parliament as they have a lot of work to do to sort out the country. I never thought the tories would leave the same mess they inherited. Chinese must laugh at our short termism.

Interesting times we live in. I broadly agree with sentiments expressed and have concluded like most that there is zippo I can do to change things, so focus on making the most of what I have and live by the motto 'charity begins at home'.... saying that I have been investing some of the kids inheritance in JDW of late. The only thing I would add is that by travelling (mainly in Europe) I see that they have the balance more or less right (Basque Country and Austeria in Spain especially). Coming back to the UK and the grim airport is not the welcome home I expected when growing up. Onwards and upwards ... keep smiling ... and thinking 'things can only get better' ; well that was what the political class told us some 25 years ago. Is it going to change .... what do you think ?

Something will have to be done .?However ,i won't be around to sort it lol ??That's without the burdon on the care sector and pressure on the NHS ?There used to be wars to solve this problem ?The ageing population will add considerable pressure on public finances in coming decades. According to the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR), under current population projections and government policy (maintaining the triple lock and the state pension age rising to 68 by 2046), spending on the state pension, pension credit and winter fuel payment is expected to rise by 1.2% of national income (£32 billion per year in today's terms) by 2050. One key driver of this is that there are expected to be 25% more pensioners in 2050 than today, with another driver being how the state pension is indexed. The pressures due to health and social care are much bigger, with spending projected to rise by 4.1% of national income (£105 billion per year in today's terms) over the same period.

These zero hour contracts make me laugh ?Companies such as tesco and primark won't even allow full-time work ?Propped up by govt tax credits? That's why so many are on benefits ?FACTIt's our policy to offer new colleagues joining us a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but if you'd like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) we have opportunities for this too and would still love to hear from you

Where will the extra 10% NLW money be spent?
JDW are a good employer so I am not worried about zero hour contracts.
JDW have the lowest prices and the greatest wiggle room to raise prices to cover NLW costs.

If you do the maths it's priced about right. Living wage 10% and labour coming into power with manifesto actions on zero hours contracts. All to be revealed tomorrow in their manifesto I'd wait to buy.

Closed at sub 200 day moving average. For me it’s a signal to buy more. This will ping north anytime soon imo. If wrong then summit is up and the drift will continue. I am in for many more sub 740 with that being my new limit. Catch a falling knife, perhaps. I am betting not…. Time will tell.

Not a fan of them being forced to but I do think a zero alcohol on tap would do well in his pubs, it's a growing market and not much of the competition have it on tap also many people eat there in the day when at work etc and do not want alcohol. The latest zero beers actually taste really good have come on massively from the early days.

Pubs 'could axe punters' favourite draught beers for 0% pints' under 'nanny state' plans to make each boozer offer at least one low or no-alcohol brew on tap

He’s such an oaf .
It’s cringeworthy the way he sometimes tries to “ fit in “ when the reality is that the dufus inside him is bursting to pop out .

Gozza , off you pop .
No one is interested in comments you make other than to mock you fella .
