01/7/2021 17:33 | The liner idea is a great one imv. (In oil&gas subsurface work we use this concept so it's a proven technology and at lower pressures. We also use fluid expandables but I don't think this applies here). Thanks for the summary Smithie. | sogoesit
01/7/2021 10:08 | appears to be for - putting closed pipe solutions into current open channels used for irrigation - putting liners inside existing pipes which are leaking or about to (which I assume will phps be mostly tubes for dirty water (since I assume that putting liners inside supply pipes would be very difficult due to the narrow diameter of supply pipes (perhaps ~15mm, versus say 100mm for a sewage pipe) (although there is probably a market for lining big water supply pipes, in some cities they are old & need lining or changing (Manchester ?) lining big metal supply pipes with no leaks might be cost beneficial since the pipes might last for many more decades if water is kept away from the inside surface of the metal tubes. note 1: that sewage pipes carry a lot more water/liquids than they do solids (poop) & leaks from tubes underground can wash away soil over time & cause subsidance note 2: a leak from a water supply pipe in the supply to a house can be heard by the occupant at night, whereas a leak from a dirty water pipe can not be heard by the occupant since there is no pressure involved; so some technology needs to be used. ==== as I understand it liners can be blown in to the inside of existing tubes & of course without having to dig up those tubes ==== one advantage of closed pipes for irrigation vs open pipes/channels is that closed pipes dont fill up with leaves, stones, grit & need manual labour to clear them (saving money each year) ==== the big savings in time & money to insert a liner (I think by blowing it) into a leaking or old drainage pipe instead of digging it up & putting in a new one is quite obvious | smithie6

01/7/2021 07:21 | Sogoesit, It's all in this RNS from April: | effortless cool
01/7/2021 06:43 | Today’s RNS mentions a “new Intelliditch subsidiary” in para. 5. Apparently this is for irrigation and storm-water run-off but I’m not clear what that means and there’s no mention I can see of it on their web site or the ALD web site as a new business line. Hmmm….. | sogoesit
29/6/2021 06:46 | Why some of the world’s biggest companies are increasingly worried about water scarcity Published Tue, Jun 29 20211:23 AM EDT Sam Meredith @smeredith19 Key Points In a research note published June 14, analysts at Barclays identified water scarcity as “the most important environmental concern” for the global consumer staples sector, which includes everything from food and beverages to agriculture and tobacco. Sustainable investors, meanwhile, seem to be prioritizing other environmental concerns. “Water scarcity is really important because when it runs out you have really serious problems and because of its low price, it is one of those classic externality risks,” Beth Burks, director of sustainable finance at S&P Global Ratings, told CNBC via telephone. | maywillow
