The significant growth in Medical and Complex Industrial Technology included some one-off catch-up due to better component availability, which is not expected to repeat in FY2025.

This is the only negative I can find. Perhaps it’s the increased cap ex? Seems very harsh to me. Perhaps the briefing or investor meet will give more clues

Probably the jump in capex guidance for FY25 led to downward revisions to FCF forecasts. Perhaps the market takes that as necessary capex on the back of acquisitions rather than something truly discretionary. But more clarity on that needed

Less than expectations? Profit taking? Not that surprising. Doesn't change the overall, picture.

only companies that do not make money have share prices that go up, I am sure the universe is inverted at the moment.

Expecting it to recover somewhat after initial over reaction traders sell off. Results decent with excellent growth in data centres and signs EV market may be improving. May top up if it goes much lower.

What's wrong with eps increase of 11.6%??

I’m quite a Volex fan, but results don’t seem that amazing.

Revenues up 26%, which you’d expect with current copper price being passed on.

Statutory earnings down 6% and underlying eps only up 11.6%.

Lets hope market is happy with this.

Data centre growth 131% not 141%???

"Data Centre customers are reported within Complex Industrial Technology and represented 41.7% (FY2023: 21.2%) of revenue in this sector. The revenue in this sub-sector increased by 131% year-on-year, partly due to prior year shortages of up-to-date network equipment essential to support the adoption of 400 Gigabit-per-second architecture in data centres."

Yep, data centres are the big drivers for this business.

One interesting line is the 141% data centre growth, including higher AI data related demand

How well Volex handled COVID, the reliability of this firm and the consistent growth shown, the diversification (low risk) is offers, this stock deserves a higher rating. A pe of 12 for next year is the wrong price. Good to see a rise in a wobbly\weak market today. The low rating is starting to unwind.

John you made a similar observation a month ago. At exactly 14:30 the US market opens, and people do these global basket trades . Amphenol, the largest US player in the same sector sold off at the open. Possibly the copper price is weighing in investors minds

Thanks, let's see if it works again - we've already had about 4% in the first half of the lead-up. When you have a consistent grower in a dead market, this kind of fits-and-starts share price performance is sometimes what you get. Amazing to think the price is roughly unchanged since early 2021, a period during which operating profits have almost doubled. That's why Buy and Hold VLX will also be a very worthwhile approach alongside any trading imo.

They rarely disappoint, one of my most reliable trades on AIM.Buy Volex 10 days before its earnings release (the news sometimes seems to start leaking after that) then sell it 20 trading days after results (when it often gets sucked into the general UK stockmarket malaise). Why wait 20 days? The short-term traders take profits quickly which keeps a lid on the immediate gains, then the fundamental investors often give it a second leg once the brokers have done their analysis. Over the last ten earnings releases this has made money nine out of ten times, with an average return per release of 10.6% a compound return over 2.5 years (though only needing ten month cash invested) of around 120%. Over a long historical period the gains are even greater though it was a different company then.
