VODAFONE COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF BRITISH TELECOMMUNICATIONS' INTERESTS IN
AIRTEL FOR EUR 1.77 BILLION
Vodafone Group Plc ("Vodafone") announces that it has today completed its
acquisition of British Telecommunications Plc's 17.8% shareholding in Airtel
Movil S.A. ("Airtel"), first announced on 2 May 2001, for a cash consideration
of approximately Eur 1.77 billion. Vodafone now has a 91.6% shareholding in
Airtel.
