I agree with that diku.
As a dividend investor the aim is to buy into longstanding and stable companies that are somewhat boring. That way you don't risk your capital but get a sensible return via the divi.

VOD isn't one of them anymore in my opinion so fixed rate bonds or even cash earning a bit of interest is becoming more attractive than here right now.
I hold at an average of 121 currently.

I think they are obliged to Diku.

Divi becomes immaterial if it keeps going down...if somebody bought around 130p and shares keep going down and stays down to 106p what good is the divi...fixed rate bonds are much better return and money safe...

you got in at a good price but I think anything below 110 should bring rewards closer to ex-divi time

The cost of issuing RNS daily?...buying back shares...VOD wastes more shareholder money than actually creating shareholder value....

The higher the yield on gilts, the more you'll need to move your target downwards.

And the BOD probably know it...you know a bit like the furniture stays within a company but staff come and go...VOD and BT are part of the FTSE furniture...milk the cow knowing it will always be there...

They issue loads if convertibles. When the option is exercised and they convert to shares, Vod buys them back in the marketplace.
It beats the dirty, grimy selling mobile phone contracts any day of the week.

PS.
They then issue more convertibles, and the merry go round starts all over again.

Why would you say there is no reduction in share count ?

VOD and buy backs go hand in hand...glued together...

Why? There is no reduction in the outstanding share count, it’s just a debt swap.
