Vodafone climbs further after e& board approval.

Vodafone shares continued to climb, and are now up 5.4% for the day at 67.6p, after approval of a new board director from UAE-owned e&.

The Emerati telecoms group announced a partnership with Vodafone last year, and was given permission to appoint a director.

The shares are still down 3% in 2024

They have been going the right way for the last couple of days, which unusual but welcome. Onwards and upwards.

So much for spending so much cash on expensive share buy backs. Never liked them.

I agree with much of your sentiment but you confuse Market Cap for the value of the firm. Its this plus net debt is its EV or more appropriately the value of Vodafone. So more than 2x your number...and that's still OK value but not when profitability is potentially declining or flat and the market is being asked to buy an asset that it's management team is trying in large part to sell. Good value but not so compelling.

The VOD share price is low partly because the UK market is depressed.
Never saw so many cut priced shares.
Some of the prices on a risk/ reward basis are stupidly low.

But the trend is down and the algo and momentum traders are programmed tome the trend their friend.
There seems to be a. buyers strike by the institutions.(that does not include me.)

I believe there is big money to be made, but it ay take years to come to fruition.Todays combined value of BT + VOD is about £30bn.
Amazing for these cash generating companies. Combined turnover about £60bn.
Telecoms companies valued at 50% of turnover.Amazing, strange times.

In normal times the share prices would be at least twice todays level.

Look, we back in the red....Again. They just don't know what to do. Someone suggested a new board, good idea. They should have appointed two new outsiders, CEO and CFO, but no, it got passed down the chain. A sad state of affairs.

In my view the possibility of a dividend cut is very very low in May. fcf will be reduced by 395 million to 2.9 billion enough to cover the 2.5 billion of dividends. This is assuming there is no cost saving contributions to FCF. There will be at least 200 million in my view. Plus 4.1 billion for sharebuy back and debt reduction from the Spanish sale. Time to buy more.
