A bit like VOD is the government and the innocent shareholders are like the voters...taken in every time new CEO comes in...just a bit of tinkering...and endless buybacks... |
innocent trusting voters actually believe that the elected government can make a difference. nothing much ever changes, just tinkering around the edges. |
If it keeps going down VOD will be worth less than BT...VOD £17bln...BT £14bln... |
All this talk about Vodafone's debt. The debt has been cleverly fixed and extended out for decades. The former CFO should have been given a knighthood. No point paying it back. Just need to get pricing power again in core markets and sell off all the markets where no good pricing. Keep buying shares and should be fine. If you can fix your phone bill it would probably be a good time to do it. |
And down we go... |
The last big down move started in mid 2022 from around 130p...to 63 - 65p close to current price 67p...near 50% loss in 2.5 years...and now with divi cut the return yield gets even smaller anybody who bought around 130p... |
11.11.2024 - A new leverage policy of 2.25X - 2.75X Net Debt to Adjusted EBITDAaL has been adopted and we target to operate within the bottom half of this range. The new leverage policy supports a solid investment grade credit rating and positions Vodafone to continue to invest for growth over the long-term..
The Board also approved a capital return through share buybacks of up to EURO2BN of the proceeds from the sale of Vodafone Spain. The Board anticipates the opportunity for further share buybacks of up to 2.0BN following the completion of the sale of Vodafone Italy..
1st tranche of EUR500M of share buybacks was completed on 6 August 2024 2nd tranche of 500M of buybacks commenced on 07.08.2024 to complete in November 3rd tranche of 500M commencing on 14.11.2024 ending no later than 03.02.2025.
24.12.2024 - Vodafone has 1.695BN of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 25.155BN ordinary shares in issue excl treasury shares.. |
That's my point. Vodafone does NOT have high debt. The Italian sale will fetch 8 Billion Euros next month. Net debt will fall to around 23 Billion. EBITDA is running at 11 Billion. Free cash flow is around 2.5 Billion annually. So net debt is 2x EBITDA when all the other telcos are at 3x/3.5x. |
VOD has too many shares in issue unlike AT&T or Verizon...issued shares like throwing confetti... |
If the outfit has high debt start paying it off instead of buying back shares |
Those of you who foolishly think Vodafone still has high debt need to check AT&T and Verizon balance sheets and debt levels. Much much worse. |
No they won't, that won't happen. They can hardly get a bid for shares from punters. |
Because when rates were at zero for so long the perception rates would never go back to mean high rates...debt galore party...then came covid and inflation spike gate crashed the debt party... |
Companies that Buyback their own shares when they have more debt than they can shake a stick at are Brain dead. They will be bought out eventually, but at what price? |
Cat bounce... |
Is this a Santa's rally or a suckers willy? |
What has happened to the mid-morning drop? |
VOD is trading like its pricing in a rights issue or some sort of recapitalisation. The 41bln euro of long term debt doesn't help. It's been reduced by 13bln since 2020 but still far too high and the share price seems to be reflecting this worry.I'm still confused as to why they are holding 1.7 Bln shares in the treasury? |
"Swiss group to take over Vodafone’s Italian business
€8 billion acquisition is approved by Italy’s competition authorities and Margherita Della Vale of Vodafone Group is poised to use the funds to pay down owings."
...
"The cash from the deals is expected to be used to pay down its owings, fund a €4 billion share buyback and invest more in the UK and Germany." |
If 66p goes then 63p support...below that it will be in no mans land... |
250k VOD average app. 78p, wtf, this is my big failure in 2024, sigh |
Comparing RR.with VOD is like apples and oranges...after Covid shut down the reopening of flying pent up demand...VOD down during Covid and down after Covid...
AIbot557420 Dec '24 - 09:26 - 4057 of 4060 0 0 1 RR shares were on a fall for a whole year in years 2021 - 2022 before their final long way up... |
and i thought noone would be as bad as the tories ;-[
water company bosses public sector pay rises benefits illegals
the whole of this lot are taking the p1ss and suet starmer will do NOTHING |
50p? Maybe yes, maybe not... I don't know. Personally, I think they will need a great deal of luck to walk it down that low- whatever. But what I do now is that I won't sell nothing here at such prices. |
