05/3/2018 06:55 | Indeed that is Vietnam. VOF shares were purchased heavily after the close on Friday. The Vnindex thus far today is up against the global trend. Very content to hold a third of our portfolio here. | corguv
04/3/2018 10:55 | Always an interesting perspective for foreign investors. | andyj
27/2/2018 10:47 | No doubting the prospects for Vietnam and thus the outlook for VOF and VEIL are strong. I hold both but am heavier weighted in VOF than VEIL. VOF has an excellent record, both have a discount to NAV at around 16-17% and undervalued. VOF now pays a twice yearly dividend currently 2.08% annually (Bloomberg) like VOF’s increased exposure to PE investments (upto 20% of portfolio) mainly in the consumer and infrastructure sectors. Either way Vietnam is booming, rising GDP, inward investment and exports, Increasing disposable incomes and consumption. | corguv
24/2/2018 15:51 | Great thanks, been adding some VEIL at a bargain 16% discount to NAV. | andyj
21/2/2018 08:29 | Hope you had a great Lunar New Year break Andy. Vietnam Stock Markets off to a strong start up over 2.5%. | corguv
16/2/2018 13:05 | I forgot to say, its 33C, another cloudless sky and Nguyen Hue is filled with Vietnamese women in an dais. | andyj
16/2/2018 13:02 | Chuc Mung Nam Moi to all holders from Viet Nam! | andyj
14/2/2018 00:37 | Agree Corguv, I was speaking to the area manager of a construction company recently whose company builds giant factories. He was sent here to open a new market for the company. His target was to secure x amount (can't recall the exact figures) in the first year. His company secured 6x in the first three months and he said so many global companies are moving here they have had to turn work down. There will be bumps, but their investment in education and the strong study and work hard ethic will eventually drive Vietnam past their neighbours. My only concern is that VEIL has performed better during the recent correction and I will split my investment between the two. | andyj
13/2/2018 08:54 | Envious. Only get to visit on business and holidays. Great future 90 Million with s median age around 30 years old, education now starting to surpass much of the West, entrepenurial and striving for a better future and as you say Andy a long way to go to catch up to the likes of Thailand. But moving fast. For me an outstanding frontier market and the City is beginning to get it. | corguv
13/2/2018 04:36 | Having lived here 15 years the change has been phenomenal and most of it in recent years. It has a long way to go to catch up with Thailand, but the trajectory is one way and their long term investment in quality education impressive. As I always say if the City could see what I see every day, these would be significantly higher. | andyj
12/2/2018 11:25 | Indeed Andy at the close Vnindex closed up 3.77% on the day. Have been adding to VOF holding myself for some time and will continue to do so. Strong economic indicators, high GDP growth, growing exports and reserves, increasing company profits and cash flow. Rising dividend yields. A young vibrant and growing country. What is not to like. Building holding in VOF for growth and now dividends. 15% seems about right for VOF spread across all sectors of Vietnam and a substantial size Investment Trust with better prospects than many. | corguv
12/2/2018 03:27 | Hanoi up 2.8% and HCMC up 1.5% at the open. I'm actually hoping for further weakness so that I can add more at even better prices.Vietnam is now 6% of my portfolio and I am hoping to gradually increase it to 15%. | andyj
09/2/2018 08:56 | Vnindex closed 1.89% down. | corguv
09/2/2018 05:47 | VN market down 3.3% at the moment | andyj
07/2/2018 12:47 | Lovely chance to top up yesterday, VN index up 3.3% today. | andyj
07/2/2018 11:12 | a not unexpected rebound | elpirata
06/2/2018 21:22 | Jitters about US inflation. Overdone imo. Underlying data just does not support inflation surge. | walter walcarpets
06/2/2018 20:34 | Just a blip ? Probably bounce back up tomorrow. | corguv
06/2/2018 10:21 | Didnt want to see the VN down as much as it is yet this only opened at yesterdays low so without seeing the order book the trend is very much intact. It was them who took out the seller of 200k yesterday, nice to have that back stop in place | roman2325
06/2/2018 09:31 | Excellent time to buy. Vietnam is only going one way. | andyj
06/2/2018 09:11 | Agreed Roman. Good time to buy. Pre Tet holiday and US turmoil driven. Vietnam economic and Company Reports strong. Also buying. | corguv
05/2/2018 13:49 | In stocks like this (I used to make markets in it) you don't get a violent swing i.e. down 10% in 2 minutes unless a pretty big seller desperate to get rid. The fact its up 5% since hints he's been taken out and buyers will come back in. I bought a small tranche the story is till intact | roman2325
05/2/2018 13:17 | Vietnamese market heavily down today, following the Dow. It's the Tet holiday season here and Vietnamese may well withdraw their money from the market as it's an expensive time! Don't be surprised to see further falls until the 15th. | andyj
05/2/2018 13:02 | Dow was down over 600 points on Friday. Sell off on quite a few stocks.Guessing it's something to do with this. | sarumike
05/2/2018 09:18 | Also wondering why the sellof, 438p a share NAV | n0rbie |
