22/6/2023 13:14 | Keeping a watchful eye here and following the newsflow. The US writers strike is now 1 month, 2 weeks and 5 days old (50 days). I see that the last time there was a writers strike was way back in 2007 and it lasted for 100 days. That means it could be still only half way through.. In the mean-time lot's of top shows and films have been cancelled or delayed. Sadly then in the short-term at least this is bound to hit their numbers. Dividend is therefore likely to be cut to conserve cash. | cfro

16/6/2023 19:27 | spooky, no problem. I could well be letting my heart rule my head on this one. A friend of mine worked for Vinten , which eventually changed it's name to Vitec before another change to Videndum. She was always full of praise for the company which was very well run then. She no longer works for them but I was impressed with what I thought was a unique niche company. Got to say it's my smallest holding by value in a portfolio of thirty shares. | philanderer
16/6/2023 18:08 | spooky, mentioned this to Phil previously..they went on a large acquisition spree and I would question have some of these lived up to expectations. Luck to holders. | essentialinvestor
16/6/2023 18:03 | Thank you Philanderer. Don’t have any particularly strong thoughts on this one ATM EssentialInvestor but I am keeping an eye on it. Next statement likely to be negative obviously. The auction cross was unusual. | spooky

16/6/2023 10:46 | I don't short individual shares, but the difference on debt expectations between those two statements was an early indicator. | essentialinvestor
16/6/2023 10:39 | spooky, posted this on the SHA board in November I've held VID in the past. EssentialInvestor - 24 Nov 2022 - 19:10:23 - 169082 of 178403 From the Videndum H1 in August.. "..The ratio of net debt to EBITDA was 2.2x at 30 June 2022, on the basis used for our loan covenants(1) . This was c.0.2x higher than if there had been no FX movement on net debt. We expect our net debt to EBITDA ratio to decline materially by the year end." And today's statement "..The Group has a robust balance sheet and we currently expect that the covenant net debt to EBITDA ratio at 31 December 2022 will be around 2.2x, factoring in FX and working capital movements" Appreciate the movement in cable since (they may have some $ denominated debt) but even so that appears quite a change in expectations in a short time frame. Might pay to be cautious. | essentialinvestor
