“Victoria sees annual profit rising up to 39% despite margin pressure
StockMarketWire.com
Flooring company Victoria said it expected to post a rise in annual profit despite its strategy of prioritising market share putting pressure on margins.
The company said that for the year through March, it expected to post an underlying pre-tax profit around 35-39% higher than the previous year's £40.8m.
Operating earnings were likely to come in at £95m-£97 million, up from £64.7m on-year.
'The group has continued to grow overall like-for-like revenues and gain meaningful market share by winning new retailers,' the company said.
'This growth has, as expected, come at a short-term cost with the introduction of lower margin, volume products,' it added.
'The group has also temporarily absorbed, rather than passed on, substantial increases in underlay raw material prices in recent months.'
Victoria said moves it was making to increase margins would”

There are some larger buys showing. 100,000 and 50,000 at £3.75 plus a 25,000 and a couple of 10,000. Wonder whether we shall see a holding RNS after this dip.

Yes, if they can sort these out at a reasonable interest rate, these look very interesting... ...but not before then IMHO.

Today's news should help with that IMHO.

Cheers, Martin

I think the big elephant in the room is the debt obligations which the board have re-iterated in today's rns are due in 18 months.

Did they attempt to go to the bond markets last year as the banks are getting a bit twitchy?

Until the debt issue is resolved there is uncertainty + I suppose the worst case scenorio prospect of a equity raise on the markets to either pay off debt or make earnings enhancing aquisitions

I think down to an overhang. Large dump just reported at 3.70 and an earlier 50k too.But think that's it. Any broker comments or anything? Would expect directors/chairman to buy big if not in a close period.

I couldn't see it as a profit warning at all. On the contrary, and I expected the share price to rocket on opening. Shows how little I understand. Could anyone explain the fall? Is it due to shorting?

I've added this to my watch list very recently and it does look at this price to have potential to be a really solid recovery and growth story. Do the management team have a good track record of implementing restructuring / efficiency initiatives? If they can deliver on the actions in today's update earnings growth should be very strong from here.
