09/2/2016 10:51 | Yes mate it's tough out there but I'm not fighting the market. I only have small amount here so could turf it out. | wipo1
09/2/2016 10:19 | Market's in tatters at the moment. | chadders
05/2/2016 21:48 | Yeah looks good, if we keep going upwards the next resistance on the chart could be around 340p. | wipo1
05/2/2016 19:16 | Well that's the best day for a long time.Hopefully it's bottomed out finally. | chadders
29/1/2016 09:21 | I also bought some kie yesterday also I like Sony but I guess currency risk putting me off but think there is big upside. | wipo1
28/1/2016 18:41 | Chadders Thanks mate and good luck to you too with your investments. | wipo1
28/1/2016 16:51 | wipo1, good luck with your latest venture. I'm a long term holder (Cookson and Foseco before Vesuvius)and happy to be patient and enjoy the dividends. | chadders
28/1/2016 16:35 | Hi Chadders yes I agree with you, I picked up a small amount after to slicing a couple of other shares. Will add when my funds clear, Halifax share dealing slow taking 6 working days to clear. | wipo1
27/1/2016 15:28 | wipo1, I know this company very well, I can't believe it's lost 40% of its value in the last 12 months. I genuinely believe sentiment will change but not sure when. On fundamentals alone it is very cheap at current levels. | chadders
27/1/2016 14:16 | Chadders Thanks for the research mate, I have been in vsvs a few times before got stopped out last time other times made a profit but sold too early.I'm going to make a purchase once funds clear into my share dealing account. Like you say looks very cheap atm. | wipo1
26/1/2016 14:05 | A little over twelve months ago Vesuvius had merger plans with Morgan Advanced Materials very much in their strategic thoughts. The two companies share some markets and geographic footprint, and both are essentially ceramic materials technology biased and vsvs could see major synergies. Despite this it never developed into a serious negotiation. A quick comparison today of the financials of both companies is quite startling. VSVS sales: £1,444 million against £921 million VSVS profit: £95.8 million against £7.8 million VSVS EPS : 35.5pence against 2.7pence VSVS ROCE: 7.78% against 4.71% VSVS mkt Cap: £792 million against £595 million One has a P.E. ratio today of 8.2 and one has a P.E. ratio of 77.3 I reckon VSVS is seriously undervalued but DYOR etc. | chadders
19/1/2016 21:13 | wipo1, vsvs is perceived as particularly sensitive to world steel production and steel prices. Coupled with the market decline over the last month or so its been battered down the way on pretty slim volumes. Could be ready for a correction. Few people realise the total dominance they have in their markets and how fixated they are on vigorously defending their market share. Still confident that this will turn. | chadders
19/1/2016 13:13 | I'm getting tempted Chadders, still watching atm. Fund managers still topping up and price keeps falling? | wipo1
14/1/2016 22:57 | Absolute no brainer methinks. Fantastic company, cash generator, market leader, should announce an EBITDA circa £120 to £130 million according to their guidance. Currently valued at just over £800 million. | chadders
11/12/2015 13:44 | One step forward two steps back, hard to call bottom. Still watching no position yet! | wipo1
04/12/2015 15:36 | Yes update not great but fund managers seem to keep buying the dips for some reason. Might be worth a punt now for a small amount? | wipo1
19/11/2015 07:50 | Trading update not encouraging | pugugly
23/9/2015 13:18 | Thanks Wipo, I got out of both VSVS and Alent a couple of years ago(I got them both through holding Cookson) Badly missed out on the takeover of Alent. (just looked it was only July that they agreed to be taken over, I suppose the name will disappear soon Still like to keep an eye on them | robertfaulkner
22/9/2015 16:56 | Any reason for the 6.6% drop in share price today, a few days ago they announced a new finance director starting in Dec at around £1 mil a year, has he decided not to join???? | robertfaulkner
15/7/2015 09:32 | Thanks Rabbar good to hear from you | wipo1
15/7/2015 09:31 | Red thanks yes you could be right I was lucky to get out Drax and moved into engie looks safer but currency risk and French withholding tax is a pain! | wipo1
14/7/2015 19:00 | Hi Wipo I would be very careful with Drax. Big problems going forward, likely to underperform. IMHO. | redartbmud
14/7/2015 14:23 | Hi Wipo Good to hear. May be a good time to invest when greece deal is done (until the next crisis) Thanks Red Only downside for me is another good British company in foreign hands (plus all the IP & patents they hold), soon wont be anything decent to invest in UK wise lol. | rabbar
14/7/2015 13:44 | Hi Rabbar well done on alnt I am still mainly cash I had some BP sale cash spare and bought some alnt engie and banco santander all small amounts but banked good profits considering the amount I bought.Take care and good luck where you put proceeds. I am tempted with Drax but only for a small punt. | wipo1 |
