Yes update not great but fund managers seem to keep buying the dips for some reason. Might be worth a punt now for a small amount?

Thanks Wipo, I got out of both VSVS and Alent a couple of years ago(I got them both through holding Cookson)

Badly missed out on the takeover of Alent. (just looked it was only July that they agreed to be taken over, I suppose the name will disappear soon

Still like to keep an eye on them

Any reason for the 6.6% drop in share price today, a few days ago they announced a new finance director starting in Dec at around £1 mil a year, has he decided not to join????

Red thanks yes you could be right I was lucky to get out Drax and moved into engie looks safer but currency risk and French withholding tax is a pain!

Hi Wipo

I would be very careful with Drax. Big problems going forward, likely to underperform. IMHO.

Hi Wipo

Good to hear. May be a good time to invest when greece deal is done (until the next crisis)

Thanks Red

Only downside for me is another good British company in foreign hands (plus all the IP & patents they hold), soon wont be anything decent to invest in UK wise lol.

Thanks for the clarification. I have to confess I was too lazy/tired to look it up. I could just about remember that there had been some activity a while ago.

Well done for holding on to Alnt.

"Didn't Vesuvius spurn Mgam a while ago?"

Was mgam that turned down a merger with Vsvs.

Hi Wipo

Hope all is well. Are you still mainly in cash? Alnt was a good result for me as I still held the majority of the shares I held when Cevian bought in. Not very often it has happened. Seen quite a few shares I sold too early rocket in the past.

Remember that the two were split out of Cookson because they operated in different markets.
Having said that they were both considered as vulnerable to takeover on demerger.
I just wonder if the foundry industry is a bit too precarious for takeovers in the present economic climate.

Didn't Vesuvius spurn Mgam a while ago?

Just my thoughts.

Bob you never know. I would say it looks worth having a few vsvs at current levels. There is a article in the ft about alent takeover it mentions vsvs as another possible candidate.

Hi Rabbar hope you are well. Markets tough at present I am 90pc cash. Picked up another 350 vsvs after I saw Morgan Stanley topped up. Other than that sitting on my hands. Hope you are not too badly affected.

Looks like I got in a bit early only bought 350 so can add further down. I saw on the news a couple of days ago that tata steel workers on strike over pensions. I remember a informed poster mentioned about pension problem here.

Hi Wipo

Sold some (small amount of my holding at about £4.60) but I think you've done a good thing buying back in at the current level. No spare cash at the moment pondering whether to take about 20% profit on EDEN which I was monitoring shortly before it took off but decided to invest last week. Now tempted to hold long term, was also looking at OPM but didn't invest.

Take care

No problem Rabbar it does look good value to me. It also does help a lot with no stamp duty for trading purposes.Good luck.

Thanks for the tip wipo, think I will try a few trades in these as the attractive thing is that they are free of stamp duty.
Haven't looked at them since I sold my free shares a few years back - acquired because I banked with the abbey.

Hi Wipo

Wasn't sure whether you was still monitoring the Board so good to hear from you. I've been trading bank shares since the 2008 crash and they are my largest holding - been holding for the last few years rather than trading them so thought it was a good time to take some profit. May buy back if they fall a few pence.

Anything I buy now will be looking for a short term profit.

Take Care.
