06/7/2020 21:23 | maybe the UK government asked VRS to cool relations with China after events in Hong Kong, Covid-19, Huawei etc and offered them the loan to compensate? Just speculation on my part. | davemac3
06/7/2020 20:56 | With the tit/tat with China Uk Gov/VRS relationship is more important then ever!!!! | joeblogg2

06/7/2020 15:13 | my apologies - I think you were just pointing out that my statement was - like the Basil Fawlty episode when he suggested his wife (or somebody) should go on Mastermind - specialist subject the 'bleedin obvious'. All I am saying is that the balance between downside risk and upside opportunity now seems to look appealing to my eye. | holidayfunds8
06/7/2020 15:08 | i think it will be very soon...for this specific reason... The UK Government, via Innovate UK, has agreed to the provision of the £5 million Loan to Versarien, the first of such magnitude by Innovate UK specifically for a project named G SCALE, (an acronym for Graphene-Seat, Concrete, Arch, Leisure, Elastomer) which is designed to enable Versarien to significantly increase its manufacture of quality assured graphene. The award of the loan, which occurred on 1 July 2020, follows a rigorous process of innovation assessment and is intended to facilitate the production of sufficient quantities of graphene by Versarien to enable market supply of commercial quantities of graphene-enhanced materials. | jointer13
06/7/2020 15:00 | Fair enough - you maybe feel that the VRS share price would have zoomed northwards last year, when the share price was already well north of 150pence. Accepting it's all shades of grey, I think it is just a truism that news will now trigger a larger % share price movement from the current base of 40 pence. But you may feel that a move from 160pence to 200pence is the same for you as a move from 40pence to 80 pence. To me, those 2 scenarios are markedly different (as is the risk profile). Anyway, I think the main message you were sending was that you did not like my post. That's OK by me. What matters is whether the views I hold turn out to be correct, that's what really matters. | holidayfunds8
06/7/2020 14:48 | "in that they know that any RNS confirming a meaningful graphene-related order will cause the share price to move - very substantially - northwards." I suspect they have known that for a while. At least a few years I would say. If not more. | kemche
06/7/2020 14:43 | I think the £5m Innovate loan RNS has put the bears / shorters into a bit of a pickle, in that they know that any RNS confirming a meaningful graphene-related order will cause the share price to move - very substantially - northwards. Cash / funding are now secured and, whilst the share price is still well above it's (23pence?) low point for the year, it's not at all obvious that the share price will now dip back over the coming days / weeks, as we all now wait for solid news. I mentioned that I was (in some ways) hopeful of a dip to, say, 35pence - just to allow for one further 'bargain' purchase, but that dip has just not (really) happened, and my gut now tells me it may not. The maths now feel compelling: * we are now close to the 40 pence mark; * with Cash / Funding now fully secured, the worst I feel could happen would be that ('no news') dip back into the 30s; * but, given that we are already at 40 pence (as opposed to 50 or 55 pence), the downside risk now seems manageable, whilst the upside is very substantial. My personal bet is that we will see 60-80pence sometime during July & August, and if we do get that graphene-order-confi The hopper is full, involving many big name partners, and many sensible people can see that the global graphene industry is now on the cusp of significant application news (real products). The only real question seems to be what slice of that graphene industry pie is VRS now positioned to secure? For me, I just can't buy into the idea that each & every major partner collaboration will ultimately deliver nothing - and the £5m Innovate loan to significantly increase the manufacture of VRS-graphene would seem to align with that feeling. 06/7/2020 13:43 | Haydale - not certified. | kemche
06/7/2020 13:37 | Haydale seems to be rising like Lazarus | stevejavelin
06/7/2020 13:19 | I wouldn't be surprised to see a significant change as we meander through the collaborative landscape up until mid August or results. The loan says to me that there is a requirement for master batching, Nanene etc. Which hit will buckle the likes of TW? Inks in apparel, batches in bridges or the genie in cement? Maybe some other curveball. Recent engagements and liquidity suggests the enterprise is ready to leave its birth. | fireball xl5 |
