I said this previously....do not trust the Chinese. Sure enough, it all falls apart.

Clearly, these front companies are just looking to access Western IP and you know who just walked into it eyes wide shut and had his pants pulled down. That in itself is corporate naivety and I'd dump these just because of that.

Seems to me, here we are months down the line, and VRS are now going backwards....will they ever get a commercial project off the ground?

What a pleasing pair of RNS's!

Great overall confidence demonstrated in the company today, by the government and by the three heavyweight joiners who have enhanced the senior team over the last couple of months.

I don't care how large the Chinese opportunity was
I'm convinced that the IP would have been at risk
Let's leave them to it and crack on with other opportunities

I'm a happy long term holder

I am happy with this morning's announcements. I realise that the detractors will pick out a few phrases to focus their attacks on - that was always something they would do regardless of what was announced - so a few rocks will bounce off as the ship passes through that little asteroid belt, but the trajectory is maintained. ;-)

Love the G - SCALE acronym. Looks like UK government would prefer to fund VRS than be beholden to China. Let's go back to Jinan deal, so we protect our IP. Jinan were just interested in building our Graphene parks rather than taking our IP.

GSCALE = Big 5.

Big positive for me also is why take the loan to specifically scale up production for G-SCALE purposes, for seats, Arch etc. If you don’t need to. Sounds to me that things are starting to ramp up in those areas and getting prepared for it!

Fascinating how re-reading the RNS puts a different complexion on it, again and again. As we debate this the first Hong Konger is arrested for waving an independence flag under the new law.

Disappointing as this is, it's good to get some clarity after so many months of speculation and frustration re China. Credibility intact by following through on the backstop, as loss of face works 2 ways and could IMHO have been highly destructive for VRS. Plenty more irons in the fire, so hopefully the focus will now be placed on those quicker wins - sports attire etc - but I have to say, it's high time one of these actually came to fruition.

it tells me orders are very close.

"The UK Government, via Innovate UK, has agreed to the provision of the £5 million L oan to Versarien , the first of such magnitude by Innovate UK specifically for a project named G SCALE, (an acronym for Graphene-Seat, Concrete, Arch, Leisure, Elastomer) which is designed to enable Versarien to significantly increase its manufacture of quality assured graphene."

I am not saying China is dead just that I suspect we need our Lenders agreement to operate there and that agreement will only be forthcoming if they are satisfied that the IP will not be stolen.

China deal not in any way dead. Reread the RNS, Tim/Tom

My take on this is that China is now a dead end without Governmnet approval. My reason is the wording of the restriction in the loan. Particularly the wording after the comma.

The loan includes normal commercial financial covenants, together with certain operational covenants designed for UK IP protection.

I,m actually quite happy with today's RNS.
Was always concerned about China and the IP .
They had their chance F them after the damage they did with covid .
Much better to deal with western democracy's unless they come begging on our terms.

Very pleased with this update. Matt joining is a huge coup, and the implementation of the backstop sends a clear message that Versarien are not to be trifled with. The loan facility provides valuable liquidity medium term, so all good as far as I'm concerned! Glalth's

More funding secured (largest loan to date from innovation board), Matt onboard permanently and Chinese shown a strong hand by VRS, that they won't be bullied at the table (imo).Great stuff.

Hadn't spotted that little extra Grabster.

SO, the backstop is triggered, but with a 1 month delay to execution. Def a wake up call for the Chinese.

Great news Matt is joining permanently. And now we've got the extra funding we needed without extra share dilution, which seems the main focus of the JV in the first place. Looks like we will go back to jinan to be part of the sino british graphene parks.

I reserve the right to modify this! UmmChina. So Hong Kong and Ip are problemettes. We are now once more a medium term long-term company.I'm not being negative and like the inclusion of Arches! An unkind summary, that I can't resist. _ "I'm going walking in the Chilterns, whilst we borrow our way to Unicorn status".As to using Covid to delay results! But if AECOM and others come good we should see some advance by Christmas. Plus Can Graphene not just be shipped to China?
