16/1/2020 07:39 | Richard Branson excited about graphene for aircraft manufacturing January 14, 2020News Photo: National Graphene Institute Latest News Australian Vanadium Limited in negotiations with Chinese vanadium producer Nine Australian manufacturers sign MoUs with Naval Group WA manufacturer wins grant for digital platform build SA’s new Adelaide Metro buses roll off the production line Virgin Group’s Richard Branson believes graphene has the potential to revolutionise the airline industry. The world’s first two-dimensional material – an allotrope of carbon – is capable of building lighter, safer and more efficient planes, Branson concluded after speaking to the National Graphene Institute. “By incorporating the atomically-thin material into existing materials used to build planes, the safety and performance properties could be significantly improved while also reducing the environmental impact at the same time.” The material, while light, is the strongest material ever tested. When researchers from the University of Manchester won the Nobel Prize in 2010 for their experiments with graphene, the Nobel announcement stated that a 1 square meter graphene hammock would support a 4 kg cat while weighing as much as one of the cat’s whiskers, at 0.77 mg. “The addition of graphene to the plastic which holds together carbon fibre in the wings of a plane can stop water getting in and adding weight which increases fuel-burn. Similarly heavy copper wiring and heating coils which are a requirement for de-icing planes can be replaced with something much lighter and more efficient,” Branson said in a blog. Reducing the carbon footprint of air travel is a focus for Branson, who says this is why he is “incredibly excited about graphene.” “Reducing weight fuel burn and improving safety should all be at the top of the agenda for everyone in aviation. Just as aluminium and carbon fibre provided huge step-changes for the industry graphene could be the material that drives the next wave of much-needed innovation,” Branson said. 16/1/2020 06:39 | Just the cash burn of 200k a month (as confirmed by the CFO). So that will be nearly 700k estimated to have been burned through since end of September last year. How much are the payments to the Spanish outfit that was acquired? How long is the lock in period for the shares they recieved? The bulls on the other thread post plenty of information but can't or won't answer some pretty important questions. | evergene
16/1/2020 06:38 | deeplane (post 89655) - very interesting. Thank you. If WSP do merge with Aecom (both big, but then even bigger) I wonder what WSP Group would bring to the table regarding their own graphene plans? And to what extent are they aware of Versarien? EDIT: Clickable version of your link: And WSP's website: EDIT: WSP's global network includes an office in Gloucestershire: And guess what? | ![]() grabster

16/1/2020 02:23 | Interesting Halliburton Video that suggests the global cost of drill head downtime is 31 Billion dollars. Not a bad market size for VRS to be able to secure revenue by introducing Graphene enhanced product performance able to reduce component failure and reduce the cost of drill head downtime. Even if only 10% of the $ 31 Billion was due to factors able to be mitigated by Graphene enhancement the global potential savings to the O&G sector would still be 3.1 Billion Dollars. Assuming at maturity there were other players in the market and VRS were only able to retain 20% market share (620 Million) if the negotiated benefit to VRS was only 20% of the savings to the O&G industry the revenue would still be 124 Million Dollars. Clearly this only approximates the scale of the long term potential at maturity of which the size at inception will no doubt be very small in comparison, but even if at inception it were only 1% of the long term 124 Million potential it would still be transformational for VRS. These figures have only been used for illustration purposes and may be significantly less or significantly more that the actual revenues.🙂 GLALTH | ![]() evergreen8

15/1/2020 22:46 | Teepee, if O&G is the first £million+ deal, with likely ongoing revenue streams, of course it will be transformational, because it will demonstrates that VRS are starting to complete significant deals. O&G will Probably be one of the smaller revenue streams longer term for VRS compared to some of the Aecom applications or apparel for example, but it illustrates to the market the direction of travel and will significantly increase new, prospective and existing shareholder confidence | schmally
