04/12/2019 16:39 | Does the arranging of a pub meeting for Dec 16 tell us anything about how good or bad the Dec 12 half-year Results are likely to be? (personally I presume not - but others might disagree ;-) ) | ![]() grabster
04/12/2019 16:26 | My thanks also to those BBers who have given reports from Monday night’s meeting in Cardiff. I’m also in the “showing patience will get its rewards” camp in respect of VRS. I will probably remain so until I see either: 1) a competitor developing commercial applications any better or 2) the pace of university research into benefits when 2D materials are added to compounds and sensors begins to trail off (it’s still accelerating from my reading). I’ve signed up to go to a future pub meeting: this one on 16 Dec at Cheltenham. By then Half-Year Results will have been released on 12 Dec. | ![]() campbed

04/12/2019 13:56 | There seems to be a good amount of shares being bought today so far and few sales (if any) and yet little or no increase in price - can anybody explain to a novice please? | ![]() ms57

04/12/2019 13:48 | Belated thanks to the Welsh contingent for the excellent reports. All sounds v positive I must say. I think the longer the share price stays in this area (frustrating as it is), the bigger the bounce will be, when things become clear to the wider market. We're still a little known share, after all. That will change, and there will be v good demand imo. Looking forward to attending our regional get together after New Year. | ![]() scottishfield

04/12/2019 13:42 | "Great news 130 more collaborations in the pipeline!" what makes you think they'll deliver any more revenue than the 100 or so VRS already has? Unless of course you have a Panini sticker book and your only objective is to collect collaborations... "He was asked by a non investor present (who by the end of the evening sounded as if he was about to be an investor!)" well he (or she) hasn't bought enough to affect the share price, have they? and on that note, where are the cornerstone investor, the HNWs amd the IIs? Nowhere, that's where, because they're all figments of Ricketts' imagination | ![]() club sandwich

04/12/2019 13:09 | looks good protection to me. "Going back to the issue of protecting IP in the deal with China, NR said that there were five ways to protect it: Patents - but not particularly relevant any more. Equipment - it is not just about one machine producing; it is a system involving several different machines and processes. Political pressure - a breach would be a national embarrassment to the host government, regional organisations, universities. The 'recipe' - remains a very closely guarded secret Someone observed: 'But at some stage, you have to hand everything over to the Chinese'. NR gave an emphatic NO to this prospect, explaining that VRS had WOFE status through its currently inactive company in Hong Kong and that chemicals would be dispatched to this company first and thence to JV organisations. He added that the different machines in the production system were in constant communication and would 'die' if operated outside of production parameters and they could be shut down at any time from the UK." | jointer13
04/12/2019 13:06 | Couple of things to add re Monday Neill was asked about the competition. He said that he used to worry about it, but hasn't done so for some time now. He looked completely at ease as he made this point, it was very reassuring. He was asked about priorities, and he outlined his top three as firstly his family and secondly the shareholders. Thirdly his priority to this *stellar technology*, and his determination for it to stay in the UK. Neill shared an anecdote about an unnamed American who said that the UK just gives our tech away for free. He seemed personally stung by this and seems to be on a mission to prove the UK is able to retain and benefit from this tech. About IP, Neill has told us previously that graphene is the first of the 2D materials. There are many more in the pipeline which will be even better than graphene. Collaboration partners (e.g. China) are being told that if you break our trust even once messing about with IP, you will lose access to further advanced 2D material opportunities with the company, and it will be game over for you. He was asked by a non investor present (who by the end of the evening sounded as if he was about to be an investor!) about recruitment in scaling up. They have a surplus of people wanting to work at VRS, and a number of existing employees are also shareholders. Neill said that recruitment wasn't really an issue, he said that he and Nigel were recruiting people constantly, whilst not actually employing them, by which he meant they will bring people on board at a later date as company requirements dictate. This way they are able to take their time looking for the top talent, rather than being rushed looking for the best candidate in a hurry. At the start of the evening Neill said he was happy for all input, whether positive or negative as he felt this would be beneficial, and he exuded confidence throughout. My instant impression of Neill was that he is warm, friendly, open and honest and I count myself very very lucky that I am on board with him, Nigel and the rest of the team. GLALTH. 04/12/2019 12:56 | "Work with whoever they have to" you make it sound like UK Gov have a clue who Neill Rickets is. Versarien is a tiny company in the UK with a tiny turn-over. It loses money and burns cash. I'm afraid all the hype about being nationally significant is just that. They presumably would have to sell some reasonable amounts of Graphene first before anyone will even consider them a Graphene company. | ![]() loglorry1 |
