Aecom have so many rail infrastructure contacts in so many countries, that I expect these arches to be in use somewhere very soon.

Incidentally, the next Winter Olympics (2022) are being held in ... Beijing.
I imagine the Chinese will be very keen to boast graphene in use at that event.

I used to be a microwave engineer and the video clip I saw of the arch looked

like it had some kind of 'X' or 'K' band antenna at the top?

The Aecom guy explained that point in detail and mentioned the need for different sizes for the tunnels as they are not the same size.

Which brings up a point really, Aecom have been looking to use in on various tunnels/lines on the underground.

It was said each arch has to be within line sight of the next one. I take that to be some type of infrared or light emitting comms system between the arches. Perhaps a main system or back up system to signal failure on hard wiring.

Alchemy - I believe the space between train and tunnel etc has been thought about and the effect of the kinematic envelope considered. Should the physical space be an issue against the 'standard' arch then quite simply either modify the single brick/cast front face of the tunnel to recess it or, alternatively adapt the reach and rake of the arch to suit the arch span of the tunnel should it be non-standard - easily done due to it being modular. TBOB

The Aecom arch doesn't have to fit every tunnel on every railway or underground system in every country worldwide. To be worthwhile it just has to fit a lot of them - which I'm sure it will. ;-)

Arch won't fit .. I agree with you, to think AECOM just put a tape measure up

in one bit of tunnel and said 'oh lets make it about that big'!

Also, I noted the mounting clamps on the concrete base blocks look like the section

can slide up and down and adjust in them as well.

Of course there is enough clearance, Aecom didn't make a random guess.

They did say some tunnels are bigger than others and the arch can be adjusted accordingly. I suspect that's the beauty off 3D printing just select the relevant program and it will print off whatever is preloaded.

No need for resetting of a production line, just a click of a file on a computer.

Signals on the central line are at small alcoves at station and in tunnels. I think the gap between train and roof are very very tight as you say so top news if they could make it . And they might. Circle Hammersmith and City lines have just been re done with new signalling system and air conditioned trains. But there's lists of projects to go at . The GEC 4080 computers from the 1970s only just gone , rolling programmes I'm sure available .9000 miles of HS lines in China ....

The only thing that VRS are constricted by with the BIGT deal at the moment is the possible 15%. With the presentations and HNW interest once BIGT is done means that there will be a shortage of shares and there will be a gradual and welcome passing of shares from the impatient to more solid patient investors.

I don't think some realise the cultural impact that it will have with what is basically the Chinese Government via BIGT taking a small chunk of VRS, the Government putting its stamp of approval on VRS products and abilities should not be underestimated.

Pocket change for BIGT and they are in the ideal position to oversee phenomenal growth in the use of the quality leading edge graphene that has met the criteria for quality in the UK, USA and China.

Looking at that arch,I would seriously doubt there is enough clearance in a tube tunnel (central Line) to mount it with the signal that low.
On a cut and cover underground (District, Met. Line) it could probably be mounted.

Just to add an important bit as the eyes of the majority will focus on VRS in that report

The first part should not be ignored and is explained below, here is the part

Emberion

Emberion develops and produces graphene photonics and electronics that revolutionise infrared photodetectors and thermal sensors. Applications include hyperspectral and thermal imaging, night vision and X-ray detection.

The business was a spin off company from Nokia. Following a long history of graphene research inside Nokia’s research organisation, the team joined the Graphene Flagship to take the work carried out on optoelectronics to the commercial market.



So the relevant bits.

First up Nokia had been working with Cambridge graphene and the inks before VRS took the major stake in them.



The next part comes form the Graphene flagship comment about the ink

Its groundbreaking, highly conductive graphene ink is likely to trend in applications ranging from optoelectronics through to composites, batteries and flexible OLED devices.

They notably created ultrafast lasers by incorporating the ink into polymers, on top of an optical fibre. They also used this material to modulate light in the terahertz range, which is the first step in creating ultrafast terahertz lasers. They created devices that can be photo-switched, and even novel memory devices. ‘We have also been able to extend this technique to other layered materials such as phosphorene or boron nitride,’ Prof. Ferrari enthuses.



So there is more to it than is immediately apparent.

Rockraven, some interesting observations, and broadly in line with my thinking.I too am approximately 75% sure it will come to fruition, but it will be a much more gradual and stepped increase than the explosive rise we were all expecting a year or so ago.The momentum from that time could not be maintained, therefore I expect that any subsequent rises will be met with spikes and sell offs, in which case there will be ample opportunities to build a greater shareholding as the story unfolds.

So are you saying VRS are going to be doing a deal with CALM first which will be the next news.

CALM is the Centre for Additive Layer Manufacturing. Vrs were invited to 2 day event there a while back to and event organised by Victrex, Airbus and just a few other were present discussing the benefits of graphene in various polymers including PEEK (victrex) etc.

ROCKRAVEN..............are you as well as many others impatient?

Its in the DNA of investors these day's but for me what I didn't realise over a year ago was how long it would take to introduce the stuff in to production runs etc.

It will be interesting at the AGM as to how the Board handle this question,
