Both my wife and I work so we have a cleaner. I say work, my contract finished on Friday so I will be waiting for the wind to change in the New Year when hopefully it will blow in the right direction. The cleaning lady is Polish by the way - doesn't speak much English. Reliable & honest though.

Anyhow, just gave her an extra £50 for Christmas. Her reaction was overwhelming - to her that is a lot of money. Gave me a big kiss and a hug. I'm well made up. We all talk about 5, 6 and 7 figure investments here and don't always pay attention to those not as fortunate as us. It's Christmas, share a little. Preferably time.

I'm not that type of person, I'd prefer others enjoy the experience.

Gaps will appear anyway as some pull out, so those that missed out should not give up just yet.

A £60m centre in Manchester brings together industry and academics to advance its use




At the GEIC, a collaboration between industry and academics that opened earlier this month, researchers hope to bridge that gap. It could influence thousands of other products from e-paper to biomedical devices, to membranes, to salt from seawater, as well as lightweight aircraft. The worldwide market for graphene-enabled products is predicted to be worth $25bn by 2027, the GEIC says.

Given the general market and v likely miton difficulties, vrs holding it's own. 110p well tested yesterday, they took down and parked it for a while - opportunists rocked the boat, but it held steady. I don't know much about charts, but that event seemed significant to me, a sign of confidence. We shall see. To my mind the fed gave slight comfort to the markets, basically telling the politicians to settle their us/china and uk/eu brexit trade issues. Which to my mind, says the underlying fundamentals in the world economy are relatively sound. Another sign of confidence to me. As posters know, my strategy re vrs is that it will outgrow the market in good and bad times, barring unforeseens, such is it's exponential potential. Each to their own. Aimho. Glalth. Best ellis

Unfortunately I was not able to pick up a ticket for GEIC. No doubt, there will be another opportunity.

Carnage again on the markets, I am very pleased we have plenty of funds in the bank. Growth companies with large debt are being hammered.

Neill could be running his slide rule over an opportunity or two as valuations in listed and unlisted companies subside.
Cash is king.
