20/12/2018 08:56 | Would be nice to be invited to something for a change, rather than scramble for tickets all the time. | festario
20/12/2018 08:55 | Hoping- given the demand- a second date will be arranged | f3rdinand
20/12/2018 08:49 | I missed it too. I went to the opening but didn't get to look around on a tour. It just shows how many keep an eye on events at VRS, most posts so far seem to be about missing out. 100 spaces gone within 45 mins it seems. | superg1
20/12/2018 08:48 | Btw the markets are a sea of red again today thanks to the US. I need to keep myself distracted not to buy more here or will get a beating from the wife :) | maisto
20/12/2018 08:47 | Good luck mj. Best ellis | ellissj
20/12/2018 08:46 | Just woken up, looks like I'm missing yet another meet up! | festario
20/12/2018 08:45 | Booked the 1pm slot. Taking a day off work and doing a day trip from London. Super excited! Would love to meet fellow Versariens afterwards for a pint or two. Maybe we can arrange a get together with the attendees of the two sessions and those who live nearby but missed out on tickets? | maisto
20/12/2018 08:45 | Continuing to accumulate even on my hols. Price is bonkers given all the recent newsflow and the underlying potential. | mjatkin82
20/12/2018 08:41 | For anyone missing out on the GEIC visit tickets, it may be worthwhile sending an email to see if there is a waiting list should anyone cancel prior to the date | bootie64
20/12/2018 08:35 | Very excited by china space mou. Feels massive. Kudos aplenty. Sure to open other doors, because the environment is so demanding upon the materials involved. And besides, they don't call it 'the space race' for nothing. If china is going 2D... aimo. Best ellis. | ellissj
20/12/2018 08:31 | Just amazing how many of the VRS family are on the Dawn Patrol these days. 100 tickets at GEIC sold out in 38 minutes from 0704. Sadly not us this time as we’ll be testing the old bones on the snowy slopes of Meribel again. I was off-grid yesterday so would just like to add belatedly to the chorus of appreciation of Scrutable’s wonderful post, and of our CEO’s generosity of time and spirit in going to visit the old fella. What a comparison with the self-seeking bombast of his detractors and some so-called competitors. As the man said in yesterday’s poddy “we are building a business, not an exit strategy” A Happy and peaceful Christmas to Neill and his entire team, and to our happy band of positive contributors on this board. | shavian
20/12/2018 08:29 | Indeed ash, miton appear to be forced sellers atm imo. Best ellis. | ellissj
20/12/2018 08:23 | Everything being affected by US interest rate rise but not everything should be imho, dyor etc!Not often there's a should about investments. Per ardua ad Versarien.. | alchemy
20/12/2018 08:17 | So any other AIM stock with .7 events per working Advent day? | alchemy
20/12/2018 08:11 | Just chatted with a friend who ordered 10 sets of the earplugs for Christmas pressies. Got so excited when he tried his pair out that he gave them to his two sons early...they reckon that they are as good as their Bose speaker headphones! Hoping mine will arrive today. | woodpeckers
20/12/2018 08:11 | Anyone think this is one of the safest companies in which to hold stockwhile stockmarkets slide? I coming to that opinion. | pshevlin
20/12/2018 08:08 | The one morning I don't get to my desk for the 7am RNSs and I miss out on an investor day at GEIC! Really disappointed as it's such an easy train journey to Manchester for me. | impvesta
20/12/2018 08:08 | Only got up because my wife made me so managed a couple of tickets for us (Both shareholders)In her debt! | pshevlin
20/12/2018 08:06 | That'll teach me to set my alarm, both sessions full, gutted! | woodpeckers
20/12/2018 08:02 | On the china space poddy neill mentioned 'other materials' were interesting them. This from UoM gives a good overview of 2D research achievements. A revolution is underway ! Vrs leading light imo. Best ellis Our research Graphene has been dubbed a miracle material due to the unique combination of superior electronic, mechanical, optical, chemical and biocompatible properties suitable for a large number of realistic applications. The potential of other 2D materials, such as boron nitride, transition metal and gallium dichalcogenides, has become clear more recently and already led to developing so-called ‘materials on demand’. There has been an explosion of research and development activity in these two areas all over the world in the last few years and the Universities of Manchester and Lancaster have played a central role in the current expansion from fundamental physics of graphene and related (2D) materials into chemistry, engineering, characterization and bioapplications. These activities provide the research base for Graphene NOWNANO students. As a student on Graphene NOWNANO programme you can expect to work with world-leading academics who are responsible for many breakthroughs in the field of graphene and other nanomaterials, including: discovery of graphene &ndash pioneering experimental and theoretical studies of a range of graphene properties:novel electronic phenomena governed by the unique electronic spectrum of mono-, bi- and trilayer graphene [Nature 438, 197 (2005); Nature Physics 2, 177 (2006); Science demonstration of strong plasmonic enhancement of photovoltage [Nature Communications demonstration of tunable magnetic response [Nature Communications the unique properties of graphene membranes: impermeable to gases yet superpermeable to water [Science, 335, 442 (2012)] tuning graphene’s electronic properties by strain engineering [Nature Physics 6, 30 (2010)] demonstration of the first stable chemical derivatives of graphene: graphane and fluorographene [Science323, 610 (2009); Small&n demonstration of a novel type of graphene transistor based on field-effect tunnelling [Science 335, 947 (2012)] demonstration of graphene chemical and stress sensors [Nature Materials 6, 652 (2007); Nature Communications innovative methods for using Raman spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy to characterise graphene and other 2D materials [Nature Nanotechnology development of graphene-based devices for quantum metrology(resistance and current standards) [Nature Nanotech. 5, 186 (2010); Nature Nanotech. 8, 417 (2013)] licensed production and processing methods for carbon nanomaterialshighly- successfully commercialized novel processing methods for quantum dotsvia NANOCO giving a wide range of materials in nanocrystalline assemblies and in some cases as mesocrystals (see NANOCO website)design and fabrication of the first artificial metamaterial with negative index of refraction [Nat first superconductor-based devices for quantum nanotechnologies: single qubits and double qubits, observation of quantum phase slips in superconducting circuits [Nature 425, 941 (2003); Nature4 nano-diode and nano-transistor based on a single-layered 2D architecture, incl. free-space detection at 2.5 THz [Appl. 20/12/2018 07:53 | I’m disappointed to see both 10am and my preferred 1 pm slots were showing full by 7:45 am when I tried to book. | campbed
20/12/2018 07:44 | Woke up 3 am, read for a couple of hours and finally got back to sleep. Missed RNS and both sessions full, typical. Ex The Times today: Versarien (VRS), the advanced materials engineering company, rose 5½p to 120p after announcing it has signed a memorandum of understanding with a large Chinese aerospace company. | chumbo1 |
