23/10/2018 19:10 | I didn’t check prices today until after the market closed, I then skimmed the days posting here on ADVFN. I have to agree with Lovat Scout, although I do take strong exception with one of his comments, his comments certainly DO enhance this thread. Market corrections are to be expected, and the idiots got lucky. | ![]() johnveals
23/10/2018 19:06 | Indeed Lovat -sensible post. Hattie - re Dyson, Neill's tweets suggest to me he is indeed talking to James, but as he says 'not in Singapore'. But then I would not expect James to be in Singapore, the R & D is at Hullavington Airfield (flew there in a chipmunk when I was a space cadet). Best wishes - Spike | ![]() spike_1
23/10/2018 19:02 | a sensible post lovat. it beats most of the drivel on here. | ![]() jointer13
23/10/2018 19:00 | Can it be coincidence that Singapore is mentioned by our CEO this week (who also confirms its EV related) and then James Dyson confirms EV venture in Singapore.... | hattie1
23/10/2018 18:59 | Good post lovat. My thoughts exactly. The bull market hasn't ended, just a healthy correction, not the end of the world. Markets will be going back up soon and this blip will all be forgotten barring "special events" obviously. | ![]() zagrosfold
23/10/2018 18:56 | Fest - not given up, just trying to maintain sanity levels by temporarily staying away from this thread, which like the market, has hit a new low for the year - not that my contributions enhance it! A few observations if anyone is interested: These market shake outs are not that uncommon and highlight the dangers of leverage. It’s no coincidence that IG etc are concentrating on wealthy clients who run portfolios across multiple asset classes rather than the 90,90,90 punters. VRS is not suffering any more than other shares in the high growth PI heavy universe- FEVR, PRSM etc. The story hasn’t changed for most of the high growth shares in the last month, but the skittish fringe always bails in these markets, whether PIs or via II fund redemption selling, as share prices rebase. Rampant bulls and speculators have been caught out across the market and the bears are having their moment, but no one should be surprised that they have their foot on the gas at the moment as these corrections are normally short sharp affairs. Some of the bears’ posts over the last 10 days have been highly contentious and I would not be comfortable if I’d posted them. Opinion is fine of course and challenging valuations to be encouraged but it’s not difficult to detect unsubstantiated agenda driven drivel. I don’t think the bears are still selling VRS share price down, not the clever ones anyway, just making a lot of noise - they’ve had a good run and made plenty or been able to minimise losses. AIMHO and I haven’t sold a share btw. | lovat scout

23/10/2018 18:20 | LuckyO, re below article : Vow to let the market play a "decisive role" - key phrase for me. Clearly a policy shift, which will hopefully pave the way for an eventually successful US/China grand trade bargain. And therefore, it also helps 1 of the 25 chinese parties to delay their interest for the time being. And thus helping a breakthrough here ! Easy to see how using logic. So yes, feels like a possible squaring of the circle to me if so. Win/win to all, face saving. Aimo. Dyor. Best ellis. "...So it is good that during recent visits to state and private enterprises in northeastern Liaoning province, President Xi Jinping came out to quash such speculation by pledging the government’s support for both strengthening the SOEs and further developing the private economy. This is in line with Beijing’s talking up of the role of small and medium-size private companies and vow to let the market play a “decisive role”. “The party’s policies are beneficial to the development of private enterprise,” Xi said, pledging to improve the business environment for them. This kind of message is important. China should not forget economic lessons of the past that gave rise to the hybrid policy. The state-private enterprise debate is a pointless diversion. There should be no question that the private sector’s role in China’s economy is worthy of more support. Far from undermining the Communist Party or socialist belief, the private sector over past years has contributed a lot to China’s growth." . | ![]() ellissj
