Thanks for the comments.
I suppose that volumes and charts do go hand in hand. Momentum up/down in the share price creates a pattern that can be used as a short term indicator, but other indicators e.g. PE or EPS can trigger buys/sells without the users chart.
Fundamentals can and do dictate the herd buying or selling.
Hmmm...

KIE, near term. This looks a better bet than the lt chart. Price tested long term support approx. 920 and bounced. Overhead resistance at neckline and historical r at approx. 1225

Unconfirmed INVH&S, confirmed with eod close above approx. 1100, tp approx. 1225.

Price is above 50 and 200sma

Potential turn 22/6/2018

KIE, long term.
[The coloured lines on charts do have a meaning.
Orange lines are support and resistance. Red lines show H&S neckline and tp
Green are INVH&S neckline and tp. etc There is no measure tool on advfn charts, so I use the parallel lines tool, adjusting it to reflect the particular patterns' percentage target price.]

H&S are not confirmed until there is an eod close above or below neckline.

Big, Like modform, I don't really do bottom reversals because I have a bad track record.

As I go long only, I tend to specialise in continuation patterns in an uptrend. I have found from experience that this policy has the fewest losing trades. As CR once said, "Buy something that's going up, rather than something that's cheap."

Good examples of continuation patterns are Flag and Pennants.
Bowls and cups, with or without handles, and Inverse head and shoulders also make excellent subjects for continuation patterns.

I have looked at KIE and will follow up in another post.

They are basically home internet enabled smart applications ... Switches, bulbs, etc ... Yes are partnered inverted commas with Apple and Amazon but for partnered read compatible. So ... Every other home internet enabled smart application provider is a competitor and many with far deeper pockets. Do some googling.

Used to have lwrf ... Sold long ago. Too competitive a market and no product differentiation. Not saying their product isn't good just don't see their USP versus competitors.

red........ ' I appreciate that there is momentum based on transaction volume, but that is historic. How does that predict the future movement?'

bamboo might answer this but as I see it; and I have been mulling the issue for some while as I started as a non believer and am now starting to see why it might work ...

Vast numbers of buys and sells dictate the movement of share prices. that is replicated across different companies and over time. and the past data can then be analysed to determine if certain trends (in buys and sells and share price movements) e.g and head and shoulders ... that have occurred are good predictors of certain share price movements that have also occurred. One can then apply that logic to look for movements that appear to be correlated with certain prior patterns to current share price movements with a view to identifying what the next move might be.

happy to be shot down but that's how I see it and tried to put it in laymans terms.

Ps (it perhaps also explains why goldman sachs were offering enormous sums to O and C mathematics undergrads as holiday jobs)

We all trade differently hydrus, it's best to stick to what works for you and try to perfect that strategy. I personally invest based on fundamentals and chart, any company with good fundamentals and growth will have a chart to back it up. Bottom fishing is not a part of my strategy.

I know a poster called choktaw, he was a master in scalping and bottom fishing. Does anyone know him or heard of him recently. I haven't heard from him and he hasn't posted anything for a while.

To be honest I don't trade my SIPP and just leave it invested in quality until the story changes - chart wise I trade on forex mostly
