red, please don't tell me you have bought, because I'm not in yet.

Looks cheap even allowing for challenges.

Sold a few HSTN, but added a lot on Friday.

You have found an obscure one there. The information providers I use do not appear to track it.

The 9.00am SSE announcement was obviously leaked! Hmmm.....

There is a lot Not to like, rise of the trackers, GARS recent relative
underperformance. Scope for removing costs on a combined operation is positive,
although keeping hold of some key personal would be helpful, one of their
better rated fund manager has already quit.

Hi red,
After sleeping on it I am seeing the founders' departure as a very good sign - I didn't like the look of them at all, and it means RWS will be on the case from the outset.
That leaves the quality of the business' service as being a function of good Project Managers. If the Glassdoor pattern is correct then this might need some rebuilding and the link with RWS could be a draw.
I guess we have to take it on trust that RWS didn't overpay.
I might add if the price drifts lower (0.33% of portfolio, a first purchase) as success could be a decent growth driver.

Importantly, the side comment is that they don't expect to see any improvement in
the O&G sector in 2017.

After putting Brode on the rack, and executing the equivalent of the Spanish Inquisition, my lad Linhur is sticking to his guns.
Luz should provide an enhanced platform into Asia. They are lukewarm on direct business with China. Japan will take time to crack.
It will be complementary to the existing business, with quality clients.
Management is geared up to deal with the departure of the owners of Luz.

We shall see. Not adding any more for the time being. Watch and wait.

Pete,Would agree with Jane (fantasy portfolio) and APAD. Only been investing seriously about 4 years and find it so fascinating, am addicted and always researching and learning (doubt that ever stops), I love it, the emotional rollercoaster is unbelievable.Am a firm believer that self learning is the only way, for me anyway. Ok some hard lessons have been learnt (bad investment decisions), but will never repeat them (I hope!).DD

Pete,
It's easy!
You just let someone see what you do and where you go for information, without recommending anything, ever, noway.
This has worked for me with good friends and no losses (friends that is) :-)

Old friend who worked for a bank phoned me the other day.
Someone he knows, who had never had PPI was so fed up with being pestered so he made 2 claims ans received £5k. Not bad business.
