Good work from the board here as their original £200k investment has increased by circa 50% since only December, plus they have the warrants @ 50p for another 4 years yet, effectively 800,000 shares at 50p each.

Why on earth did they announce that at 5.55pm, surely should have been 7am tomorrow or during trading this afternoon?

Some very good points folks...

Penny is partially correct in his/her understanding of fledgling technology companies. Gains are swift and sometimes huge with just a little traction. This is partly due to MMs not being able to properly assume the 'Fair Value' of its early stage investments on the openmarket and the reason why we see such ridiculous forward valuations...But also because of the 'Herd' factor, however, they're definitely not sustainable as Bapodra suggests...

In addition, considering our 'Hefty' investment in the Covid trial which should really be the major catalyst for a more profound rerate in Vela. Most other interests are still very much in infancy for any concerted price momentum here...

Remember, its the construction of the foundation in Vela that will stand the test of time but thankfully JN is fully conversant there unlike dear Mr Laiker!

Why don't you send an email to Vela asking for the exact breakdown and strategy structure?

Valuation of investments:

I've got to admit that you're losing me a bit now Bapodra - although I know what you mean about intiial investment sums as absolute comparative figures, but don't think percentages mean that much. I'll take a look.

You cite the example of MODE..
And we do know the value relative to MC..imo we needn't see this as a fraction of overall investments, but simply related to Market Cap...so at present the Market values Vela at circa £9Million with Mode investment at circa £300K.

If MODE was to , let's say, 5-bag, then then theoretically, VELA's Net present value would increase by £1.2 Million, and MC commensurately to £10.2 Million...
so you could say that (not counting the uplift or fall of other investments) MODE would be worth about 15% at that given time to VELA.

(This doesn't take into account the Market factoring in more uplift in MODE at that theoretical point). But I agree, specifically if MODE 5-bags our uplift is only 15% - but at that point we would have more cash to spend and sentiment value would be growing too.
As you say we need a few of these investments to have a sustained rise, not spiking.

That's how I see it - as a percentage of contemporaneous MC. And at the moment, it appears to be about 3%

SGS at the moment is about 20-25% of our MC and I do see this as a big event - both cash wise and sentiment wise. I don;t think it matters the ratio to other investments as these all have fluid MCs at any given time

Not sure if I'm reading you corectly here?

Hi Bapodra..
I’m neither trying to be in competition with your views or questioning your years trading, just stating facts as I see them from my own experience and recent ‘tech’ stock events.

I’ve no idea as to exact time frames; your guess is as good as mine, but good fortune needs to play a part - and I think that will come (or won’t !) is the Covid trial, which I see as being a major catalyst for re-rate. So I suppose you could say I’m looking at this share gaining major momentum within 2 months...possibly sooner depending on other news events.

All the best :o)
