Ok, well thanks for answering me bookwormrobert. Fair enough about the bod as I have some issues with their 'governance' as well - esp. their death spiral deals. In the end, it will probably be a binary bet ie will they or won't they get their Nomad. I'd probably get nervous towards the end of the month if there is still no announcement. That's why I think the talk on LSE about their anti-anxiety tips is probably a bit premature.

Hi novicetrade68! No, this really is my first time on ADVFN or any other bulletin board. (And my God, the happy-clappy fools on LSE!)
But no, I'm not new to investing (note, investing, not trading!). Especially in non-ferrous metal plays. My investment aim is to make 50% a year, not to "multi-bag" in days.
FWIW, I know Romania (and Ukraine) very well. I even speak Russian, some Ukrainian and some limited Romanian (which I mix up with my better Italian). In general, there is a lot of money to be made in tailings / brownfield operations in ex-Soviet bloc jurisdictions. Communist mining techniques were spectacularly inefficient, and they left a lot of good metal behind. This is what drew me to Vast. But as I dug into their paperwork, well, let's just say, I decided I didn't trust the BoD!

But if you don't mind me asking bookwormrobert, surely you must have been on ADVFN longer than just the three days when your profile was created. It's none of my business, but I'm sure you can't blame posters taking a sceptical view of new posters who're posting dead certs of where this business is going ?

Can't resist, dssloan. My prognostication is that this company will fail to get a new Nomad, and therefore it will be delisted from AIM (i.e go kaput). Take that with a lorryload of salt!

I'm not so skeptical about BCN - that's a very different story. But anybody going big into lithium needs to bear in mind that battery technology is changing and advancing rapidly, and that the future will not necessarily be Lithium-ion. So it's a risk. And given the timescales involved, it means tying up money for a lot of time.

No idea about the rest of your conspiracy theory. But it's flattering to be "a man of mystery".

No doubt he was here before under a different user name ? Always interesting though when a BB all of a sudden gets a lot more busy !

Interesting.

Bookwormrobert is a very recently created profile and he seems to have slightly downbeat assessments on both VAST and BCN.

His presence - and the emergence of PWhite (previously mercier et camier), with whom he seems to have 'very constructive exchanges!, mean that their prognostications are to be taken with a lorryload of salt.

Hi there, Donald. Believe what you want to believe, but I actually understand what Vast are actually mining in Romania and some of the problems. It's wild country there and the snow lies thick on the ground in winter.
Basically, Vast is a copper play (although the zinc adds some value - especially as removing it from the copper increases the price of the copper as well). I don't think copper will be a great business over the coming year; I think better gold, rare earth metals, lithium, and indeed zinc.
But my real problem with this company isn't the actual mining, but the corporate governance - the lack of a Nomad, the resignation of the CFO, the questionable content of some of the RNS releases, and the endless dilution of shares via warrants.
(BTW, I don't count the Zimbabwe resources as worth anything at all. If they ever become worth something, Mugabe will simply seize them, unless he dies first.)

===========================

And yet they have increased revenue 1300% during these 'difficulties' ;)

Code 1 for RNS followed by another code 1 means RNs cancelled, that's why it didn't happen last time! This time has a much higher chance of being a genuine RNS.... Time will tell.I believe it will land tomorrow, but not necessarily at 7am.Good luck all

Thanks, mitreatrading. Free share tip - another tailings play, but done right this time - Sylvania Platinum (SLP). I am of course invested in this share!

Due to lack of analyst coverage shares on the smaller markets can be completely different from the fundamentals, sentiment is king here. Thats why having a BoD that you have faith in goes a long way on AiM, given the prior decisions taken here on financing et al the shares were trading at a reasonable discount and continue to do so in my opinion. High risk high reward.

Actually, NYBoy and mitreatrading, I'm not short.
(Though, given a choice of short or long, I'd definitely be short).
I just researched in detail a lot of non-ferrous mining companies for the next year, some of which I've bought, and some of which I haven't. Obviously, Vast was one of the companies I didn't buy. For the rest of it, I'm just curious to see how shares get pumped and dumped.
As I said above, this is my specialty, so it's fascinating / alarming to see how far divorced from the fundamental value of a prospect the stock market actually is.
