I think VANL are well-positioned and I'll be picking more up on weakness. The long dry summer will help to remind architects and planners of the need for piling before construction on high-shrinkage clay. Just up to management now to deliver.

I agree. It may be a long term hold but how bad?

My thoughts GS:

Firstly I'm a long standing holder here so underwater, but happy to hold as VANL performance starts to improve.

Positives
- Rev up 32% v FY19 (pre CV19), more if you include acquisition contribution.
- Pre-tax profit £3.6m
- Debt very low at £1.1m
- Have invested £4.9m in new rigs over last year.
- Reinstated final dividend of 1.0p.
- Order book after two months of this year is £39.0m (same as last year)

Risks
- Inflation on wages, fuel etc. How much have they managed to pass on?
- Govmt in disarray. Possible impact on big projects as public finances worsen.
- Housing development likely to slow down over next year as inflation and interest rates start to bite on house sales and new development.

Finally I'd add that the share market is very skittish at present; so any company that doesn't deliver "above expectations" often goes down in price when results announced.
I'd see any significant fall in VANL price as a buying opportunity if you plan to hold for a few years for general recovery in economy.

thanks hybrasil

Useful to add to the numbers, always need a credible management team to continue to deliver

EV/EBITDA of c.5 should continue to fall as they chuck off cash and increase EBITDA, yet shares have hardly moved.

One of the longest and most comprehensive CEO’s reports that I have read.
The reintroduction of the dividend and the very positive business outlook can only help the share price

Zeus note out earlier.? Valuation: The shares currently trade on 11.9x FY23 earnings with a 2.9% FY23 dividend yield and a strong balance sheet. We think progress with Rail is encouraging and will help the Group meet its medium-term targets, and therefore reiterate our valuation estimate from the August 2021 initiation note of 64.4p per share, now offering c. 59.0% potential upside.

Live wire.

I get the feeling that this may be about to turn.

There was not a lot of stock offered yesterday.
Trading at asset value. About to announce a dividend payment.
But I am repeating myself.

Let’s see in 3 weeks time
