100% Jacknife. The golds rarely at the end of the rainbow but somewhere along its path where the early birds get out.

throwingmuses,

It's pretty obvious what happened with UPL. If you look at your words above you should be able to see the unnatural contortion that you've had to reach in order to blame some mysterious shorter villain.

It remains, as it has always been, that the biggest and most common share scams involve artificially inflating a share price in order to sucker mugs into buying shares at a high price from the scammers who bought them at a low price.

Wirecard, Bre-X, Cloud Tag, Avanti Communications, Globo, MySquar, Eurasia Mining, a whole host of numerous others. All followed the same simple idea: Pump 'n' dump.

I'm not a supporter of shorting, I think prices should be purely demand driven and not subject to games from non-ownership, we would see a very different investing world..What's happened last week should be the start a criminal investigation. These small groups of people use social media to influence with impunity. They can be traced, if needed, I'm just surprised they haven't been investigated before, but this time it would be great if there's an investigation by the SFO. (We know some of those we accuse, but many don't like to speak about it).

Shorting had nothing to do with the fraud here. Someone/A group (yet to be determined) artificially inflated the share price in the short term so that they could dump their shares onto unsuspecting retail punters who believed the story.

That's nothing to do with shorting whatsoever.

Jackknife

Jack you know fine well it could have been played both ways. With the knowledge the bid was false the scammers would surely have shorted the spike on Monday morning. If those are from the same accounts that closed shorts before the scam, that's not gonna look good at all. I do remember shorts on IG going down to zero for a time, not sure if that's accurate though

Jak-just add more weight, How quickly some consortiums raised it as a fraud/foney bid also begs a question, as they had no time at all to research before posting their thoughts.

I will go as far as to say I was a little concerned for Riskyinvestor's well-being, as he clearly has not sold and seemed delusional with his postings.
Hope he is ok.

I firmly believe that because the market didn't send the share price to the anywhere near supposed '14p offer', those involved in the 'ramp' retracted their ruse, if it had succeeded many who jumped on the bandwagon would've been stuck in on the spike, the fact it hovered around the .5.5p level saved many from been truly scammed. Reckon it should open around .1.75p in the morning, and that's reliant on the MM's getting out of the bed the right side!

Do you get paid by the word, or by the post? Come on, put some effort in, there's a huge volume of shorts to be bought back in the morning. You'll be competing with sellers at highs, and PIs getting a second chance to buy on the cheap. Try again with a few more words this time...

this delusion on short attack is max copium, anyone retail could short UPL simply because it was an easy short and a blatent fraud

This is exactly the problem, 90% of this board only want to sling dirt and hope some sticks on the company. The fraud was perpetrated by the scammers, understand? These scammers would know it was a fake bid, understand? Don't you think they then might short sell? And big? If they were smart enough to fool the FCA and takeover panel, don't you think they might be smart enough to open a large short? I say to the authorities, follow the money. Do your job and get these spivs locked up asap

Lots of possibilities, but what happens is regardless of an individual's thoughts on here. If you believe in the company, you only lose when you sell, If you intend on keeping your holding, just switch off your device for a week or 2 until things settle.
Shorters will buy their holdings back when at a level they are happy with, which may increase the share price ....

Overview... with 2-3p opportunityHttps://zakstraderscafe.com/the-week-in-small-caps-upland-downland/7972/As far as what may happen next there are obviously a few scenarios to chew on. It may be that because the market was not big on the offer idea the downside from the current 4.5p level is limited to where the stock was prior to it: 3p. However, given the burnt finger factor, one might suspect an initial move lower to the 2-3p zone, and then things settle down. As I said in the Bulletin Board Heroes video, there may be an opportunity to take advantage of any brief bear trap below 2p. Hopefully that is the limit to the downside.

The FCA should be looking very closely at whoever sold/short sold in large amounts last Monday morning. Upland will be supporting them all the way, as I do.
