18/10/2010 14:56 | poor form not to state when you're selling out, if you are happy to talk it up as a prospective buy for over a year. it does leave a bad taste, yes | brando69
18/10/2010 14:53 | brando. I think that is the only reason most people have a sour taste as this was never stated at any time when he sold or started to sell otherwise he would not be getting this flak. | joeblogg2
18/10/2010 14:33 | so when exactly did you bail out of uniq then rainmaker, if you don't mind me asking? | brando69
16/10/2010 09:09 | Rainmaker Many thanks for your comments in answer to my question and also the tip for Mallett, I'll look into it. As for my Uniq investment, sadly I am down a packet but that is down to me. I had opportunities to get out at my break even point but optimism triumphed over commonsense and I still hold today albeit at a substantial loss. From what you have said, it doesn't look too promising for a good recovery as far as Uniq is concerned so I guess I'll have to consider cashing in my chips and moving on to a different table and game. | hal5
16/10/2010 07:14 | Loverat - I would just like to know when he sold as I was one of the fools here who was still adding Uniq shares in the 40 pences. | teapreacher
16/10/2010 07:01 | Teapreacher I dislike misleading posters as this thread will testify. I did not follow every one of RM's posts but did not get the impression he was misleading - like the posters named on my thread. Still, if you believe he has misled you or others, post away. | loverat
16/10/2010 05:35 | Why did you not tell this bulletin board when you had sold, Rainmaker? A lot of people holding Uniq shares were trusting your judgement and would have liked to have known when, and why, you decided to throw the towel in. Instead, you continued to post positively on Uniq even though you had, presumably, sold. | teapreacher
16/10/2010 00:37 | Thanks 2trying-Holders of Mallett just need to exercise a little patience. Swedish Value Investor Peter Gyllenhammar has just increased his stake to 20.4% to expect him to press for a quick sale of the lease. Apparently when it was first put on the market there were several interested parties so maybe it will go for a cut price £1.5mln. The sooner it is sold, the sooner Mallett will be able to start making substantial savings on on their annual £1.2mln rent. I estimate annual savings in the region of £800k pa. As far as the Loonies are concerned just filter them. regards | rainmaker
15/10/2010 22:01 | Rainmaker - superb tip on a certain Bond Street establishment . I am looking into that , I like what I see so far . Incidentally , your tips / threads were recommended to me by a friend . Who made a lot of loot from your original UNIQ tip . That' s a friend by the way - not an "internet-pretending He did , however , warn me that you "attract" an army of "jealous losers" ! Who envy your success , and try and put you down . Keep up the good work , RM , it is appreciated . | 2trying
15/10/2010 20:42 | Teapreacher is not one of the :cyber-clones: at all. Only ever had one name TYVM. | teapreacher
15/10/2010 20:36 | dp- is he with you? | pysgodaur
15/10/2010 20:15 | I'm sure you are proud of that! | dancing piranha
15/10/2010 19:24 | Hi Hal,my answer is that I don't know whether there is an opportunity here and I don't want to get into the realms of speculation......... Take Mallett(MAE)for example trading at just half of tangible net asset value.£8.6mln market cap and minimal net debt of £100k(but has a £2.5mln overdraft facility and possible further £1mln line of credit) lost £700k in last six months so with £12mln of stock it actually owns at current rate it will deplete it's stock in 8 years. We know it's New Bond Street lease is in it's books for just £350k yet is currently on sale for £2mln.Once sold Mallett will move to a new address in Mayfair and make substantial cost savings. It wrote down the value of its stock by 17% last year then sold stock at auction for £600k at book value so it's fair to assume that that it's net asset value is fairly stated perhaps even understated so effectively I'm buying £1 coins for just 50 pence pieces which is a great deal. Two major competitors Partridge and John Hobbs are now longer in business so Mallett as the worlds largest antiques dealer will naturally increase market share and margins as a result.Co has been given £8ml of stock to sell on commission as a direct result. Meanwhile a cyclical upturn is imminent. Whether I'm the only buyer doesn't matter although all I know is that I'm getting a great deal. regards | rainmaker
15/10/2010 18:25 | Rainmaker I would appreciate your view on the present situation, do you think that eventually a satisfactory solution will be agreed with the pension fund administrators? Furthermore, is this now an opportunity to invest for a recovery play? My own view is that patience is needed and that this will be resolved satisfactorily and that the shareholders will see increased value in a few months. | hal5
15/10/2010 17:36 | Thanks DP-these BBs are supposed to be for research and intelligent discussion not living proof that care in the community doesn't work.Had to laugh when there was a message from a "new Poster" congratulating TF on his hard work and agreeing with everything he said.It was the only message of support for him that I have ever seen and who do you think wrote it .................... And yes, Trendbore you can't blame me for you shorting NTA at 30p-price now 120p a few months later Sorry for the interruption, normal service is now resumed. regards | rainmaker
15/10/2010 17:15 | I'm sure he wasn't grizzling as the share price here increased...... same old story, he just got too greedy, and failed to push the "sell" button, as the price fell, and needs to blame someone else for his incompetence! | dancing piranha
15/10/2010 17:11 | Thanks Trojan, Fact Inventor, I mean Trendfloor clearly has "personal issues". Putting "it" on filter is the best option regards | rainmaker
15/10/2010 16:48 | Dear me what a load of drivel, take your issue with RM somewhere else for the sake of others and indeed yourself!! RM gave you his take on the situation, what you do with it is down to you and no one else and I didn't hear anyone moaning when it nearly ten bagged after his tip!! DYOR means just that and if you can't be bothered don't go blaming someone else for your tardiness imo. trendfloor - 13 Oct'10 - 17:48 - 10079 of 10086 (premium) (Filtered) | trojan
15/10/2010 15:40 | Gartmore adding 5 million shares is a hell of a vote of confidence or one hell of a gamble. Investment funds are not prone to gambling. | chadders |
