13/10/2010 21:30 | SirSteve70 - it is not a good feeling to have lost a lot on a share. I can empathise. Uniq should have been my biggest winner but has turned out to be my worst loser. However I am still very grateful to Rainmaker for bringing my attention to a share at about 4p which increased to more than 40p. The only person to blame for my loss is me. I am the person who could have sold at any time. The most useful thing for me is to look at what I have learned:- Lesson 1. Too many eggs in one basket. At one stage at least 60% of my portfolio was in Uniq. This was irrational greed. Lesson 2. Don't ignore your stop loss. When one of my shares goes up by 50% I set a stop loss of 20% down from high. Sadly I ignored my own rule which would have taken me out with an excellent profit. The main things in life are to learn and have fun. I have learned from Uniq and I continue to have fun with my portfolio. Perhaps next time I will get it right. Regards | ben value

13/10/2010 17:32 | Perhaps these posts are logged just to fill the gap between updates. They are not productive or beneficial WHY BOTHER? Wait for the 'sorted' news or 'screwed' news They are the two potential outcomes Any other options??? | billybankrupt
13/10/2010 14:24 | "As far as I remember he usually qualified his opinion".....really? What is the evidence of that? I don't recall him ever qualifying his opinion. Not at 4p or 45p. I recall him saying he was expecting a single massive up-day at the time when the price was near its highs. | teapreacher
13/10/2010 13:49 | Well as far as I am concerned Rainmaker has been unfairly treated here. I agree that posts of a ramping or deramping nature can affect the behaviour of others. However, I always felt that his research was excellent and as far as I remember he usually qualified his opinion. If you look around at some of the behaviour on this site you might appreciate what I am saying. I followed his posts from the beginning and made a few trades on the way up and made a bit. Thing is, he cannot be responsible for everyone elses trading behaviour as well as posting research. He struck me as a long term investor which suited him. That does not mean that everyone should have traded in the same way or not taken a profit when the share price stalled. When a share has risen from 2p to 40p with a few bumps along the way, investors must start to think for themselves and at least contemplate that there might be a correction. The pension issue is not his fault and it seems from the news releases that it was not considered a huge problem by the company up until relatively recently. If the management could not foresee this, I don't see how Rainmaker could. So on this occasion, agree with the last post. Anyone who lost significantly here lost because of their own investment strategy in my view. | loverat
13/10/2010 13:16 | Trendfloor, Suggest you set up your own thread for your crusade against the person who forced you to invest here. Those of us who are prepared to take responsibility for our own actions can then consider any upside/downside for Uniq share price regarding developments with the pension aspect. Best wishes | votich
13/10/2010 13:07 | You should fight for justice if you have lost your money here through the poster rainmaker. Seek legal help. | trendfloor

12/10/2010 16:52 | Crickey i hadnt realised it had fallen that low. Ive tracked this thread over the last couuple of weeks and ive been sickend by what I have seen. People losing there life savings, there pensions etc , etc. Yes you can come out and say well do your own research etc etc, but lets not forget dyor was cut off by the thread starter here. Anyone who had a negative view on UNIQ was at once silenced by rainmaker, it was like being in a North Korean state. I say to you who lost a lot of money here dont just sit back and let this dictator preach to you as if he were not responsible for his actions, take action through the regulatory bodys and seek to gain some type of compensation or ar least justice. And remember this there is a post where rainmaker is ramping the stock up even after he has sold out and the negative pension news was out in the open. He didnt want to lose face. Simple as that VANITY. Fight for what was yours and is now somebody elses Man or mouse you decide your own fate. | trendfloor

11/10/2010 22:48 | cyber, great and honest post mate. Guess we all have a tale to tell of bad investments taken. This is obviously one thats on that list, but so too are trying to catch the falling knife on LLoy and Rbs. Taking a hit on a stock is always painful but once done, just move on and never look back, then with some good choices and a little luck those losses can quickly be recovered. Oh and can be offset with the bill from George! I am still holding here at a 70% loss but for no other reason than to see where it runs. If it was in danger of total collapse then I would limp off licking my wounds. But still feel that there is life in the old dog and some salvage can be gained. If not then bigger offset than expected. BOL all HC | honest crust
11/10/2010 22:19 | Guys, just looking in here after many months, I made a packet on the way up in 2009, punted a bit on the way down this spring and got out quickly at a loss. This is a tragic situation, there is nothing wrong with the company' operations and it is doing well, but it seems that the pension issue has destroyed any confidence from investors. Sorry to hear that some have lost large parts of their pension funds. I had a similarly horrible experience in 2008, lost almost 90% of my portfolio through rash decisions like buying Tanfield at the peaks. The 2008 Crash didn't exactly help. However there is light at the end of the tunnel, through a mixture of selective risk-taking and leverage, being hard-headed about taking losses, and just choosing some good companies (and a couple of dogs in amongst them), I have managed to go from 90% down to 120% up, in about 18 months. I am no genius by any means either. I think the biggest hurdle to overcome is to actually believe that all is not lost, to decide to sell out at a 90% loss*, and to believe that you can recover, if you're willing to take a medium/long-term view. If you are down on your luck and looking to make your money back, you could do worse than consider the natural resources sector, many stocks especially the smaller ones have been rebounding in recent weeks. I am not going to recommend any to you, as I don't want to be seen as ramping. Check out Fairdeal's new thread (FAIR) as a starting point and make sure you do plenty of research! Chins up. Good luck all. * if you think that's the right thing to do, personally I would not write Uniq off totally | cyberbub
