Unilever's Problem With London Goes Way Beyond Brexitay Beyond Brexit

I voted to remain in the EU Brexit referendum, but that doesn't mean that I didn't think there wasn't a tenable position in the exit position. As a comparison there were some very large companies that moved their headquarters out of Hong Kong when Britain withdrew, it could be argued with hindsight that it was a mistaken position.

It's sad to see this happening. I think of Unilever as one of the bedrock UK corporate names. I've held the shares for years, and will continue to hold them.

I suppose it was inevitable they would rationalise the dual-listing at some point.

Brexit has provided the excuse to unify the HQ in the Netherlands. It's one of the many small cuts we are seeing - like the moving of the EU agencies out of London, or the transfer of big asset managers to Luxembourg and Dublin. Individually they don't add up to much, but taken as a whole they are leaving us a much-diminished country.

ugandalad; "as long as savings are maximised" you state. Not the way ULVR has been performing these last few months! Irrespective of where their HQ is located, 2018 has not been a good year for this company and the silence from the BOD has been deafening.

I think I’ll wait for the economic arguments before heading anywhere. It is an Anglo Dutch company reporting in Euros on Worldwide operations so where it’s HO is has limited interest to me as long as savings are maximised.

I trust there are enough Dutch shareholders ready to replace all the British ones a they head for the hills. Maybe its time to short this company.

Unilever will not make you a quick buck, but its hard to beat its track record. It consistently delivers over 10% return and has done for many many years. If you are looking for a cheap entry point I'd suggest its now whilst the markets are generally down.

I bought £20 grand on 25th Sept and sold on 18th Oct and managed 6.86% gain. I've bought back in today about £20 grand at 4225p and another £20grand at 4172p, but I see it fallen some more. Its at he lower Bollinger line, but not yet at the oversold on the RSI graph.
I've given my Tibetan bowl a dong and tried some chanting, but I'm not sure this is going to stop the share price falling further, but generally ULVR is a good buy at any level if you wish to hold for many years; its a consistent deliverer of value and a handsome divi as well.
The last RNS disappointed many and possibly the share price was over inflated with recent takeover activity from Kraft. Its also possible that world wide jitters over many things, Chinese debt, Catalonia, Brexit, Trump, Korea may all amalgamate to deliver the long forecaste correction. So should be ready to bale out at a moments notice, and suggest that not more than 50% in shares at this time. The answer re the share price lower level is that I don't know.
