28/7/2005 13:16 | LONDON (AFX) - Shares in Ultra Electronics PLC moved higher in late morning trade, tracking the firm mid cap trend, supported by news of a UBS upgrade to 'buy' from 'neutral' on valuation grounds, with an increased price target of 990 pence, up from 980 previously, according to dealers. At 11.38 am, Ultra Electronics shares were 9 pence higher at 830, while the FTSE 250 index was up 31.2 points at 7,585.5. In a note published today, UBS noted that Ultra Electronics' shares have traded sideways during the last three months, underperforming the UK aerospace and defence index by 5 pct. The Swiss-owned broker concluded that Ultra Electronics valuation now looks more compelling, in its view, with the stock trading on an adjusted enterprise value/EBITA multiple of 10.4 time, versus 10.7 times elsewhere in the sector. UBS also said it thinks Monday's interim results from Ultra Electronics can deliver further upgrades, and it sees scope for around 5 pct increases for consensus 2006 estimates. The broker said it expects further acquisitions from Ultra Electronics this year, as cash generation should remain strong and it thinks the business can comfortably gear-up by a further 50 mln stg following the recent Audiopack purchase. UBS concluded that it views Ultra Electronics as a core holding in the UK electronics sector. jmh/ak | m.t.glass

25/7/2005 07:27 | RNS Number:2247P Ultra Electronics Holdings PLC 25 July 2005 Embargoed until 0700 25 July 2005 Ultra Electronics Holdings plc ("Ultra" or "the Group") Ultra awarded US$13m contract for battlespace IT radios Ultra announces that its Tactical Communication Systems business in Montreal, Canada has won an initial US$13 million contract to supply enhanced tactical radios to the US Army for the Patriot air defence missile system. The contract has been awarded by the Canadian Commercial Corporation acting on behalf of the US Department of Defense. Ultra will supply an upgraded version of its High Capacity Line of Sight (HCLOS) radio that is the current baseline for the Joint Network Transport Capability (JNTC) programme, providing wideband communications for use by the US Army. The radios are to be delivered by September 2006. Ultra's HCLOS radios and associated equipment are key elements of the US Army's transformation of its battlespace information management process. They provide a data highway in the Army's communication system and are a vital component of the wide area network for voice and data transmission between the various command levels in land forces. Ultra's radio communication systems provide secure battlefield trunk telephone and high-capacity data telecommunication services to link battlefield commanders and their combat forces. They accommodate the increasing need for data-based communications, including email and near-real-time video transmissions, in addition to voice communications. Douglas Caster, Chief Executive of Ultra, commented: "Ultra has developed its radio to meet the stringent requirements of the Patriot missile system. This gives Ultra a world-leading capability and this contract is potentially the start of a multi-year programme to upgrade radio systems in service with the US Army." - Ends - | m.t.glass

Hey . . . could be a good method of stock selection!! I suspect people on ADVFN are more into making a fast buck than investing long term. | scumdog
