Stephen Sanderson, UKOG's Executive Chairman, commented:

"The conversion of the Horse Hill Licences to the new 14(th) round licence terms is particularly valuable to the Company. We can now move our stated Portland and Kimmeridge Limestone appraisal and development programme forward over Horse Hill in the certainty that we can retain 100% of the entire 55 square mile licence without the necessity of any future relinquishments.

Similarly, the Broadford Bridge PEDL234 extension now formally enables Kimmeridge Oil and Gas to drill the Broadford Bridge well and submit planning consents for a second well over the extension of the Godley Bridge Portland Gas discovery.

Additionally, the extension of Baxters Copse gives us further time to assess the economic viability of the BC-1 Oolite oil discovery and fully assess any Kimmeridge Limestone potential.

These extensions, plus the recently announced Holmwood PEDL143 extension, give us a clear 2-year window in which to deliver commerciality at Horse Hill and demonstrate the repeatability of the HH-1 discovery results over the basin."

Strange.
PEDL Second Term End Date is 30/09/2016 so they still have over a month before they needed to apply.
The problem was PEDL 246 and 234 which had a Initial Term End Date of 30/06/2016 hence the RNS on 5th Jul 2016.
Hardly a hold up IMO as UKOG had already made arrangements with the OGA. We are now nearly in September.

I think this was confirmation!

"Horse Hill ("HH") PEDL137 and PEDL246 (Company Interest 27.3%): At the election of the Operator, Horse Hill Developments Ltd, the licences will adopt the 2016 14th Round licence terms, permitting the HH Licences to continue without further relinquishment. A Retention Area ("RA") covering the entire 55 square mile licence area and an outline work programme has been agreed with the OGA. The RA will continue throughout the agreed work programme period currently due to expire on June 30, 2018 for PEDL137 and June 30, 2017 for PEDL246. The HH Licences forward work plan includes long-term production testing of 3 Kimmeridge Limestone zones plus the overlying Portland, two contingent appraisal/development wells and 3D seismic."

Ps Ukog needed confirmation from the OGA that HH and BB's licenses had been extended before they could continue with their development plans and I'm certain that the permit applications are ready to go since gaining license extensions 7th July 2016.... Gla :-)

I'm expecting all approvals and permits in place for HH and BB this year with a very busy and exciting Q1 2017 for Ukog.....and Brockham's sidetrack this year.......and so plenty of positive newsflow to add value in run up to HH's extended flowtests and a potential game changer for all if Brockham's Kimmeridge limestones free flow as HH's. ...gla holders On and Up!!! :-)

BB only has an "Environmental Permits (Waste Operations") permit according to the EA.
In May 2015 I thought flow test at HH would be in September.
In September I thought it would be December and they finally started it in (when was it) February 2016 so forgive me for sounding like a pessimist when in fact I was being an optimist.
Probably safer to say "in the next year" the way things have gone.
It will be what it will be.

Well Alba confirmed by Rns 9th August that Brockham's side track where they will test the Kimmeridge limestones was still scheduled for this year, and so their approval is likely to drop anytime now, and now that HH's and Pedl234 licenses have been extended , confirmed by Rns 7/7/16 then the submission of permit approval applications for HH extended flowtests and dilling and testing at Pedl234 will be imminent imho and no doubt much of the paper work would have already been prepared in anticipation that both licenses would be extended. Gla holders.....this coming Autumn Statement could be highly significant to proceedings as the new Govt lays out its plans for home grown energy security for a new and independent UK Plc. Exciting times. ;-)

Unfortunately it is the summer break for most businesses including the govt. departments.

Throw in the changes that OGA will have to make, the "up to" 16 week permitting process, no sight of applications made to the OGA unless we get them via RNS, Angus being a Ltd company and it is a lot of conjecture at the moment.

Brockham only has an Environmental Permits (Industrial Installations) permit.

HH has Environmental Permits (Waste Operations) and Environmental Permits (Radioactive Substances) permits.

I think 2016 is beginning to look unlikely unless several digits can be extracted.

Update of onshore licence data seems to have stalled in the last 3 weeks so they can't even apply for the IOW.

Alba looks good value against their tiny market cap and their 15% interest at HH and 5% Brockham which is expects to test the Kimmeridge limestones this year. Gl :-)

ps funky, cut my losses at STG a day or two ago, impulsive buy with a beer on a beach, and put into Alba instead.....makes more sense with 15% of HH and 5% of Brockham amongst a few other prospects.....although I should have topped up in Ukog instead at the time.
Onwards and Up!!!....Gl and happy holiday. ;-)

As the battle over fracking shows no sign of letting up, ultimately the Energy Minister will have to decide the future of the shale gas industry in this country. Here, the newly appointed minister LUCY NEVILLE-ROLFE shares her thoughts on fracking.

Lancashire sits above a rich vein of shale rock deep beneath the surface which could create an exciting new industry with considerable benefits across the country.

As the new Minister for Energy, I am committed to delivering an economy that works for all, ensuring the benefits of economic growth and investment are spread as widely as possible. The consultation on the Shale Wealth Fund that we announced on Monday is an important part of making this happen.

It will give everyone a say in how up to 10 per cent of the tax revenues from fracking can be reinvested into local projects and infrastructure in communities and regions hosting shale sites.

We propose initially to set the maximum pay-out at £10 million to each community or region associated with an individual shale site over the lifetime of the site, which is likely to be around 25 years.

It does not stop there. As part of the consultation we are also now proposing options to give some of the proceeds to individual local residents, after the Prime Minister changed the plans as part of her drive to deliver a thriving economy for everyone.

This important change will ensure that there is a greater focus on control for local communities – including proposals to transfer funds directly to individual households rather than local authorities.

Being an ex-businesswoman, I strongly believe shale is an exciting opportunity not to be missed. It could have an extraordinarily positive effect on our economy similar to the US experience, creating a large number of jobs for local people, as well as benefits to a wide range of other businesses throughout the community.

Indeed, according to a report published by Ernst & Young, investment in shale could reach £33 billion and support 64,000 jobs in the oil, gas, construction, engineering and chemical sectors – meaning more financial security for working people and their families.

In addition to this, we will also need new sources of home-grown gas in the future as the vast majority of households in the UK still use gas for heating and cooking and will do for some time to come.

In fact, it is predicted that by 2030 on current trends we will be importing around 75 per cent of our gas supply. However, I am determined to ensure that a burgeoning fracking industry goes hand in hand with protecting the environment as we move to lower carbon emissions and greater energy security.

The UK has been successfully regulating gas and oil drilling for over 50 years and has some of the toughest regulations
of anywhere in the world in place to limit and monitor emissions.

This means that we can continue to tackle climate change whilst taking advantage of the benefits this new industry could provide.

We have also gone further and confirmed that fracking will not be permitted in wells drilled from the surface of a number of protected areas, including Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, National Parks and Sites of Special Scientific Interest.

Most importantly, we are not taking any chances with safety and have strong controls in place overseen by the Environment Agency, Health and Safety Executive and the Oil and Gas Authority. This will ensure that the people of Lancashire, and the whole of England, can take advantage of this exciting new industry as companies press forward with exploration to find out just how much shale gas we can get to power our homes and businesses.

UK hopes Canadian competencies will help in its shale industry development efforts

Tuesday, August 16, 2016

Companies that have honed their skills in Canada's unconventional resources sector may well find their next long-term growth prospects across the Atlantic.

The United Kingdom is on the cusp of launching its own onshore shale gas industry - an effort some years in the making - and the technologies and innovations that have helped Canadian firms master shale resources in western Canada are being contemplated as advanced solutions. It's about the unique combination of technological, regulatory and social licence competencies that Canadian suppliers have to offer.

A government task force that worked through 2015 to assess the potential for a shale gas sector issued its final report and related recommendations in December. It found that with the right standards and regulatory/oversight frameworks, a shale sector in the UK could add significant value. The link to the task force's efforts is here: hxxps://www.taskforceonshalegas.uk/news-and-events/final-conclusions- and-recommendations

That's why the Alberta government is planning an exploratory trade mission this October to bring interested Alberta companies to the UK to gauge the opportunities for themselves. The mission fits within the unique low-carbon framework signed between the province and UK earlier this year, says Laurent Auger, Alberta's senior director of environmental and energy industries for Europe and chair of the intergovernmental committee overseeing the agreement. Auger works for the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

The mission would build on already-sound trade and business relationships with the UK, as well as existing relationships with Alberta government departments and agencies. The Alberta Energy Regulator, for example, has been offering guidance through its international outreach.

'Our companies in Alberta have proven their ability to extract shale gas in a way that is cost-effective and environmentally sound,' says Auger. 'That track record and experience could very well translate to opportunities in the UK.'The UK as an energy jurisdiction has long relied on its offshore North Sea resources. As the North Sea matures and reliance upon imported gas increases, the government is looking to ensure the stability and security of energy supply by encouraging its fledgling shale industry - but in a way that allows the industry to grow without all the challenges experienced in other global jurisdictions.

The potential for UK shale gas development is significant. A 2014 EY study commissioned for UK Onshore Oil & Gas (UKOOG) highlighted the extent of supply chain opportunities.

And as Alberta maps its own energy future, it's aligning with jurisdictions like the UK to ensure carbon and emissions policies and frameworks are synchronizing where and when possible. Auger explains that there is a joint committee tasked with monitoring and advancing the framework's principles, which include a strong focus on environmental solutions.

'The framework presents some key opportunities for companies moving toward clean and low-emissions technologies as part of their strategies,' he says. 'It anticipates encouraging companies to take advantage of this agreement's efforts, potentially on both sides of the Atlantic.' (Background to the Alberta-UK Low Carbon Innovation and Growth Framework can be found here: hxxp://www.alberta.ca/release.cfm?xID=40390C9A9C191-A8FA- A81F-991529100777E9F0)

Auger and his team are currently assessing if sufficient interest among Canadian companies exists to organize a mission the week of Oct. 11-14, which would include a major shale conference in Manchester, site visits and meetings with key UK shale stakeholders, including licencing companies and government agencies. Interested companies are invited to contact Auger for more details at laurent.auger@gov.ab.ca

The government's mission aligns with an existing initiative by the Calgary-based JuneWarren-Nickle's Energy Group (JWN) to raise the profile of Canadian companies and the role they can play in the UK.

With an office and staff in London, JWN is uniquely positioned to help companies navigate new opportunities. As well, JWN has a long history of working collaboratively with the Alberta government.

In fact, JWN is currently collaborating with the Petroleum Services Association of Canada and Calgary Global Exploration Forum on a research study for the Alberta government that will guide companies to more effective international expansion by assessing the best global markets for particular products and services. The report's first phase - which identifies six key markets - will be released in early September.

As part of its initiative, JWN has signed a partnership with the Portcullis Group, a leading UK public affairs company. Portcullis has deep expertise in guiding companies in the social, economic and political complexities of doing business in new jurisdictions.

JWN has also partnered with Rainmaker Global Business Development to offer clients a broad range of tools and insights critical to effective international expansion.

I wish the various financials sites would get their prices right. TDW says UKOG down around 3% LSE says UP 13%---they are having big IT probs at present--and here says down 2%---I take my Broker--TDW--as correct!! but it is annoying---I guess all to do with how they quote, Mid Price, Bid and Sell etc and time lapses.
