eipgam, I thought this might interest you. It looks like games will be played with Iran next year, so should be good for new producers (Ghana, Iraq etc.,) as strategy appears to be to let Iran sell to China so revenue to Iran will be weakened. So......, capacity is being built up elsewhere to make up for lost Iran supply to Europe if, or rather when sanctions are introduced. Iran is trying desperately to keep price up, hence straits of Horuz exercise "threat".

Not one I subscibe to eipgam! I'm not convinced it is accurate, but when I saw Iran were to carry out an exercise in Straits of Hormuz, I dismissed it as irrelevant much to my annoyance as I know that is going to develop further as time moves on.
Anyway, quiet here, so I'm thinking news soon.

Very misleading headline in that article. To me 'by January' means before January, but it's clear in the first para that it means 'by the end of January'.

Not that it makes much difference in the grand scheme of things.

If you can stay awake to the end.........1400 elephants, thousands of buffaloes, about 200 lions and many other wild animals........phew....conspicuous lack of ducks imo, so no liability here then!

Lukoil has made a discovery offshore Cote d'Ivoire... don't know how close it is to our prospects though

Russia's oil major Lukoil Holdings (LKOH.RS) said Thursday it has discovered a series of good-quality sandstones containing light oil and gas condensate offshore Ivory Coast, west Africa.

The company said it the well penetrated eight meters of hydrocarbon pay in two good-quality Turonian-aged sand packages at the Independence-IX well in Block CI-401.

Lukoil holds 56.66% directly in development of the block, with rest owned by the company's partner Vanco and Ivory Coast's state oil companies.

About time we had some good news. A 20% chance in Tanzania...at least a failure shouldn't dent the share price too much nor would a 100 million discovery cause a sensation.

'[Tullow] remains our biggest relative holding. What they have done in absolutely fantastic. They have discovered three new petroleum bases off Guyana and West Africa [and I] think there is significant upside potential on this company.'
