Why do these discoveries always seem to accompany a downward movement in the TLW share price?

I think you can make 20% here, Merrills for example have a £20 target and the risk profile is a lot lower than the likes of RKH.

TLW: now too mature a largish oil company for my portfolio's profile.
Better to be holding TRP, RKH, GKP, for chances of better than 20% gains over the next year.

Just one view of course.
good luck TLW.

Tullow Oil Plc (TLW) has agreed to buy the offshore Ghanaian interests of EO Group Ltd. for $305 million in cash and shares, increasing its stake in West Africa's biggest oil discovery in a decade. The acquisition will boost Tullow's interest in the West Cape Three Points license by 3.5 percentage points to 26.4 percent, and the Jubilee oil field by 1.75 percentage points to 36.5 percent, according to a statement issued last week.

now we (or should I say, I) know..

EPI. Firstly where I showed Euros should of course been US$. I assume that WCTP is only part of TLW's overall Ghana holding and that therefore the 2 billion odd Euros that I arrived at is or will be the value of TLW,s holding in WCTP but I was just making a stab in the dark.
My calculation unfortunately showed millions rather than Billions! Very easy to miss out a few decimal points in oil companies valuations!
Incidently the issue of 10,137,196 shares to cover $216m would appear to be based on a share price around 1300P at $1.64 to£1

I hope it is a lot more than that ringer.... considering we have handed over 305 million US dollars..... ;-)

"This acquisition will increase Tullow's interest in the West Cape Three Points licence offshore Ghana to 26.4% and increase the group's interest in the world-class Jubilee oil field, which Tullow operates, to 36.5%. Tullow will issue 10,137,196 ordinary shares to EO to satisfy approximately $216m of the consideration."

So we have bought, according to info in the header, 3.5% of WCTP (26.4-22.9) and a lump of Jubilee (but I can't see how to work that one out).

If EO,s Share 3.5% = 305,000.00 Euros
Then...1.0% = 87,142.85 Euros
TLW Share..26.4% = 2,300,571.00 Euros

Is that an over simplification of Tlw's
valuation in the Ghana field?
Subject to correction,of course!

oops, I forgot to read the last para in the report but I would assume that TLW know what the govt will say (for a change?)

I remember we flagged the possibility a while ago eipgam and if memory is correct there was a bit of confusion in determining which field or value. Personally I'm pleased this came off for Tullow, subject to Ghana giving their blessing

a-ha.... So, if I recall correctly, there was a bit of controversy around this EO group recently. Nice to see that Ghana govt have given TLW the nod to take over their interests.

Is there a valuation opportunity here? EO had a very small % (was it 3 or 4) and TLW have paid $305m (c£188m) for it.
