16/1/2020 09:08 | So, the expert analysis is that this might go up, or it might go down. I'd love to know what the "signal" is, but I'm sure we will find out after the event from those with 20/20 hindsight vision. | ![]() orkneyarab
16/1/2020 09:07 | Tullow Oil set for tough year, says Hargreaves Tullow Oil (TLW) has taken a £1.5bn writedown on its assets after cutting its long-term oil price forecast and production difficulties at its key well. Tullow’s production last year averaged 86,700 barrels of oil per day, slightly behind guidance although the silver cloud is lower capital spending which means free cashflow and debt is within expectations. However, production and free cashflow are expected to decline next year and analyst Nicholas Hyett said ‘2020 still looks set to be a tough year’. ‘In the short term the focus is on increasing efficiency, both at an operating level and in capital expenditure, as the group looks to conserve cash and reduce a still considerable debt pile,’ he said. ‘With a new chief executive yet to take the reins Tullow is a little adrift at the moment, and while production continues to struggle and debt stays stubbornly high it’s at the mercy of an oil price which has not always been friendly.’ The shares dropped 15.5% to 50p. They have plunged 65% since 6 December when the company issued a devastating profit warning, prompting the departure of former chief executive Paul McDade. | ![]() edmondj

16/1/2020 09:01 | Get ready for the ones with foresight to buy in at 46p and get out at the top. BS. Who’s brave enough to step in at 52p. | ![]() smartie6
16/1/2020 09:01 | I do have to say that it feels as if it might 'pop' to the upside. But I've learned that it's best to wait. | ![]() stupmy
16/1/2020 09:00 | Buyers are really trying, but for me it is not yet permissive for a long entry. It feels close though. Not to say tha t41 won't happen (in case I pulled up on nonsense), just that it starts to feel as if a long trade is approaching. I'll wait for a signal and maybe have a pop if it becomes permissive. | ![]() stupmy
16/1/2020 08:58 | Come on stumpy, did you buy in, have they taken your money yet? Sort of little fish with a big mouth that they love. Dropped from 52p to 50p, now trawling at 51p. | ![]() smartie6

16/1/2020 08:49 | IMHO, looks like they’re holding it slightly above 50p as a temptation for the greedy to step in. I wonder how many little fish will swim forward for they’re cake. Stumpy maybe one of them, but he’ll not tell us later when they drive it down. | ![]() smartie6
